Facial Features

While her body is lithe like an elf, Faelyn's face is more round like a humans. Has a small scar on the left corner of her lip that she cannot remember where it came from. Faelyn would be considered "average" looking to an elf, and "slightly better than average" by humans.

Personal history

Faelyn was born to a human mother and an elf father in Star Harbor. Always seen as less by her father, he left them shortly after she was born to return to the elvian woods.   Her mother, being an impoverished human, drifted from town to town with Faelyn before eventually making it to Glimmerhold. Desperate, Faelyn's mother sold Faelyn to a merchant. Luckily, Faelyn was there only briefly before and older wizard purchased her and returning to his remote cabin slightly north in Ala Anore.   The elder elf wizard, Vaxor Grimm, was disciplined in necromancy and had spent years perfecting the art. Though talented, most necromancy circles shunned Vaxor Grimm due to the nature of his studies.   During his travels, he sought young minds worthy enough of becoming his apprentice. He knew his research was too important, and could not bare the thought of leaving it behind with no one to understand it, as he had no children of his own.   Thus, Vaxor began to teach Faelyn the art of necromancy. Along with a slightly older human apprentice named Kragen, Vaxor began to teach them the basics of undertaking.   Vaxor successfully taught them both how to animate the dead to do their bidding. However, Kragen, in an act of defiance, unsealed a room in the cellar that Vaxor had hidden numerous tombs and scrolls written in undercommon that promised the key to reviving the dead.   Kragen was furious, feeling that Vaxor had hidden important knowledge from them. Kragen showed Faelyn what he had discovered. Conflicted, Faelyn informed Vaxor of Kragens discovery.   Feeling betrayed, Vaxor banished Kragen from his home and once again sealed the room, hiding the tombs and scrolls with magic that Faelyn had never seen before.   Both Faelyn and Vaxor were saddened by Kragens absence, even if her teacher did his best to hide his sadness. Vaxor continued to guide Faelyn in necromancy with a sense of urgency.   Shortly before Faelyn turned 25, Vaxor fell ill. Both knew that his time had come and Faelyn did her best to make her teacher comfortable. She was the only one at his side when he passed quietly one morning at dawn. Faelyn buried him under the willow tree in the backyard.   Distraught and with no purpose, she began to clean and organize her former teachers home. Tombs, books, scrolls, and scrap paper still held valuable information, and Faelyn felt she still had much to learn.   One evening while sweeping Kragens former bedroom, Faelyn discovered a loose brick in the wall. Hidden was a page ripped from a book written in undercommon with ingredients and an incantation. Faelyn had a very basic understanding of undercommon thanks to Vaxor and his teachings, so she set forth to decoding the spell.   After many weeks, Faelyn was able to translate the incantation. To her horror, it was an incomplete section on retrieving the souls of the dead and returning them to a physical form, the very thing that Vaxor had told them was forbidden in the art of necromancy.   Which Faelyn concluded first-hand that, yes, it should be forbidden.

Gender Identity

female

Sexuality

Straight, though she has never had a serious intimate relationship with a man.

Education

Most of what Faelyn knew came from Vaxor himself. After the death of her teacher, Faelyn taught herself the contents of the one preserved undercommon scroll.   Faelyn also spent a very brief time with the Circle of Magi, where the higher members quickly shunned her after learning who Faelyn had her original teachings from.   During her travels, Faelyn will attempt to collect or read anything she can on necromancy, but has yet to find a teacher to continue her training.

Employment

A small bit of money was left for her when Vaxor died. Due to being shunned from the Circle of Magi, offical employment is hard to come by. Faelyn will usually take small odd jobs in her travels, such as; helping an elder clean their yard; spying on an unfaithful lover; or once bartending at a pub for a place to stay the night.

Accomplishments & Achievements

Faelyn feels very accomplished in teaching herself some basic undercommon, which has been useful to her many times in her travels.

Failures & Embarrassments

Failing to heed the warning from Vaxor in regards to attempting to raise the dead.

Mental Trauma

The attempt to retrieve Vaxor's soul from beyond was so harrowing that Faelyn still will not speak of what exactly happened to anyone.

Intellectual Characteristics

Faelyn can sometimes focus too much on what is written in the book or scroll in from of her, rather than think about how it will work in practice or real life.

Morality & Philosophy

The dead is dead. You can animate the corpse and pretend that they have come back, but the dead are dead.

Taboos

The failed attempt to resurrect Vaxor

Personality Characteristics

Motivation

Faelyn believes in the Truth, and is hellbent on keeping others from making the mistakes she has.

Likes & Dislikes

Faelyn likes to be alone, yet can put up with the company of others as long as they do not ask many questions that she cannot answer.

Social

Contacts & Relations

Kragen - her former classmate/housemate. Met while living with Vaxor Grimm. They have not spoken since he was banished from Vaxor's home.   Vaxor Grimm - former teacher. When he died, his home and property were left to Faelyn.   Father (unknown) - Faelyn is aware that her father is an elf, but he left her and her mother when Faelyn was young. She has no memories of him.   Astoria (mother) - While she does remember her mother, Faelyn resents her for selling her for food. Faelyn currently does not know if her mother is alive or not, and has not heard from her since Astoria sold her.

Religious Views

Though Faelyn is aware of the gods and the underworld, she does not see them in a religious sense. She sees them as different beings living on different planes in the same world as she does.

Hobbies & Pets

Though she likes cats, Faelyn knows that she travels too much to responsibly own one.

Speech

Faelyn is soft spoken - for the most part. Dealing with other people makes her nervous.

Wealth & Financial state

Vaxor Grimm left some gold hidden in his house, but Faelyn left most of it hidden. She only took what was the bare minimum when she left.
