Source of Chaos

There is no beauty in a world forever still.
The Elemental Lord of Fire holds a title that can easily be seen as threatening and malicious compared to those of the other five, and this is not entirely without merit. In embodying fire, The Source of Chaos is a destructive and consumptive force, but it also embodies energy and change. The destruction of flame is a transformation and rebirth, the heat that melts ice, steel, and stone alike. To follow the flame is to acknowledge that all things eventually end, but that they shall also always begin anew.   The presence (or, perhaps more accurately, the attention) of The Source of Chaos is punctuated by nearby flames shifting through impossible colors. Sometimes, flames will also rise in serpentine forms, swirling or forming rings around the followers who have achieved its audience. Supernatural powers associated with The Source, when used by beings with a strong connection to it, often show similar properties.   Few civilized settlements formally promote or accept the worship of The Source of Chaos, as its tenets are naturally antithetical to society and order when practiced to their fullest extent. The Elvish tradition of symbolic death, however, has clear connections to its philosophy, and some elves are even more open about the faith they place in the elemental lord. Sen'ssinai has formal churches and altars to flame, focusing on change for the better, such as the vitalization of the desert into their life-bearing civilization.   Aside from the Elves, Goblins, with their love of flame and boundless enthusiasm, have a natural inclination to act in ways that favor the tenets of The Source on their own. Anarchists and revolutionaries who hope for change - for better or worse - also frequently take up its cause. Priests and oracles of fire are present in the wake of - and sometimes in the time before - great historical transitions, helping those affected by them. These changes, they say, are not something to be feared, but embraced and accepted as inevitable.   This philosophy resonates throughout many cultures that pay tribute to The Source, aptly likening the inevitability of fate to a wildfire. At the same time, like a wildfire, this does not mean that there is nothing that can be done; lives and valuables can still be saved, the spread can be diverted or temporarily resisted. Seeking full control of flame or the chaos of life is futility, but it can still be harnessed, and The Source of Chaos seems to welcome this. Perhaps it is no surprise, as it is flame that is directed with purpose that truly moves the world forward.

List of Gifts

Like a Moth: Those who resonate with the Source of Chaos are generally drawn towards chaotic events, leading more interesting lives than their Gnosis would indicate, for better or worse.
Cost: 5, Requirements: Elan 10   Embrace of Chaos: This ability alters the gifted character's luck, simultaneously increasing his chances of performing exceptionally or failing tragically. The result needed for an Open Roll drops by two points and the range for Fumbles by one point for every 20 Elan points the character possesses. The character may decide whether to use this ability before rolling the dice.
Cost: 5, Requirements: Elan 20   The Smallest Possibility: Attuning to energy, transformation, and chaos, the gifted character gains the ability to reach Inhuman difficulty levels in any ability check they happen to reach this degree in. This does not work for other uses of inhumanity, such as Movement Value or Weight Limit.
Cost: 5, Requirements: Elan 30   Sensing Chaos: This gift allows the character to perceive chaotic and unstable factors in the environment or people around them, granting them enough detail to give the appropriate push towards an interesting outcome. The higher the Elan of the character, the greater range and complexity of the results.
Cost: 5, Requirements: Elan 40   Proof of Branding: Emulating the miraculous trait of their elemental lord, gifted individuals can produce rainbows of color in existing flames, and cause them to coil like serpents away from their source. If they possess offensive abilities using flames, they gain a +10 to their offensive ability while using this gift, and a +20 to any In Flames results. These abilities only work if the flames are within one meter for every point of Elan the character possesses, and it does not allow flames to exist completely disconnected from a source.
Cost: 15, Requirements: Elan 40   The Swaying of Chance: Creating a more interesting result, if not necessarily a more beneficial one, the gifted character may use this ability to repeat a roll and use the second result. This gift may be used once per game session for every 10 Elan the character has. The same result cannot be modified twice.
Cost: 10, Requirements: Elan 50   Font of Energy: More so than most other elemental lords, those attuned to the Source of Chaos gain a natural predisposition towards the use of fire. They gain a point for each ten points of Elan they possess per day to be consumed in place of supernatural resources, provided that the results are related to fire, such as the Magic Path of Fire, the Psychic Discipline of Pyrokinesis, or a ki technique with Elemental Binding to Fire. These points are each an equivalent of two points of Ki, one Free Psychic Point, or twenty Zeon.
Cost: 15, Requirements: Elan 50   To a Flame: The presence of the character gradually causes their surroundings to become more chaotic in ways they otherwise would not be. Characters with Gnosis lower than 10 will start to behave more erratically, and unusual events will occur with greater frequency.
Cost: 10, Requirements: Elan 60, Like a Moth   The Swaying of Fate: With this gift, The Swaying of Chance may be used on others, though unwilling targets require two uses of the ability instead of one.
Cost: 15, Requirements: Elan 70, The Swaying of Chance   Font of Vitality: This gift enhances Font of Energy, allowing its points to be used in the place of sacrificed Life Points as well. Each point from Font of Energy grants ten effective Life Points for this purpose, though if they are used in this way, the points take a week to return rather than a day.
Cost: 15, Requirements: Elan 80, Font of Energy   Phoenix: Individuals closely linked to the Source of Chaos have a remarkable tendency not to stay dead. If a character with this gift is killed, they burst into flames equivalent to the Level 40 spell Fire Mine at Arcane degree from the Path of Fire, with the exception that the flames can damage energy, and they may spare certain targets from harm within the radius. The character will rise from the ashes within a week, with full Life Points and no penalties or negative states. Even scattering or destroying the ashes will not prevent this, and they will simply appear from another pile of ashes as needed, but in any case they will lose 5 permanent Elan points in the process. This ability also fails to function if the soul of the gifted character is completely destroyed.
Cost: 25, Requirements: Elan 90   One with Chaos: The chosen of the Source of Chaos can not only incite it, but direct it in the ways that they find to be most interesting. They cannot produce truly impossible events, but can alter probability to a drastic degree, causing the least likely but most interesting of results to occur at their whims. The lower a chance there is for an event to happen, the more time and effort the chosen one requires to make it occur, however, and this ability does not have any sway on the choices of sentient beings.
Cost: 10, Requirements: Elan 100, To a Flame
