Ophirian

Starting Languages

When a player selects a culture, they automatically gain ability in the primary language associated with that culture. This language represents the common tongue or dominant language spoken in that cultural region. Each culture provides a pool of additional languages that players can choose from. This pool should include languages associated with neighboring regions, historical influences, or significant trade partners of that culture. The number of additional languages in the pool can vary based on the diversity and historical context of the culture. For example, a culture with extensive trade routes or a history of conquest might have a larger pool. You may select an additional language from this pool for each point of edge you have in Intellect, and another for each additional point you gain as you level up in your adventures.

Starting Arms & Armor

Players are afforded their starting weapons, clothing, & tool proficiencies by the age associated with their homeland.
So Stone Age cultures and Dark Age cultures might both grant ability with a mace for example, but only the Dark Age culture would grant ability with guns, for example. Over the course of your adventures you may choose to use your progression to gain proficiency in a different age's tools.

Ophir, Land of the People

Ophir is the wealthiest of all the Hyborian kingdoms. She doesn't have the population or the agricultural base of Aquilonia or Nemedia. However, Ophir has something of great value, gold mines. In Scarlet Citadel, the Ophirean knights wear gilded armor — an extravagance that hints at the prosperity of the kingdom.   Ophir is mostly rolling plains, with forested regions throughout. In the east, it turns mountainous, merging into the rocky Nemedian/Corinthian border at the eastern boundaries. Ophir is slightly rainy, with storms pouring along the western edge of her mountains. There is little snow, except on the highest peaks, but the winters can become bitterly cold with sudden drops below freezing.   Ophir abounds in gold, silver, and gems. Some of the finest jewelers in the west reside in Ophir (where their raw materials are in the most abundance).

The Ophirian People

Ophir has a Hyborian culture, very similar to that of Aquilonia. The most striking difference is the presence of wealth among her populace. Ophir's military wears gilded armor, and almost every bourgeois noble has a sizable quantity of gold jewelry or gemstones.   This wealth, and the associated standard of living in Ophir, has given the Ophireans a reputation for generosity unsurpassed among the Hyborian nations. It's said that no one goes hungry in Ophir, and that no one sleeps in the cold. Though this is a slight exaggeration, it's true that the Ophireans are free with their belongings, and their "charitable contributions" to other nations are unsurpassed.

Religion

The Ophireans are devout Mitra worshippers, although this belief is tempered with more religious tolerance than is seen in Aquilonia. Nature worship has a following here, but it's limited to the more remote villages and towns.
