Deep within the marshes, amidst the murky waters and dense undergrowth, the cult of Sobek thrives. Born from the whispers of the Well of Skelos within the volcano, these devotees are driven by a relentless pursuit of power and ancient sorceries. Led by Vathis, they listen intently to the enigmatic whispers of the well, seeking to unlock its secrets while preserving the remnants of the serpent men who dwell within.
Among them is Aradis, a disillusioned seeker of knowledge who, in his quest for power, finds solace in the dreams where Sobek, the crocodile god, offers purpose and enlightenment. Tempted by promises of true happiness and meaning, Aradis forsakes the votaries of Skelos and embarks on a journey to establish his own cult dedicated to Sobek.
Settling in a cave in the northeastern desert, Aradis names it Zalthar's Refuge in honor of his predecessor and begins to forge the Cult of Sobek. Crafting armor from bleached scales and star metal, the cultists embrace their newfound deity, separate from the serpent men of the Well. Together, they seek knowledge and power through the teachings of Sobek, their fervent devotion reflected in the towering statue erected in his honor.
As the cult grows in numbers and strength within Zalthar's Refuge, Aradis envisions a future where they will venture into the frozen north, following in the footsteps of Zalthar himself. With their faith in Sobek unwavering, they prepare to confront the mysteries of the Well of Skelos once more, driven by the belief that true enlightenment and ultimate power await those who dare to seek it.
