The Dragonsong Chronicles The Dragonsong Chronicles

The Dragonsong Chronicles is a alternate timeline that branches off from core Forgotten Realms 5th edition. It is a living world, being actively built by an entire community of DM's players, world builders, story writers, artists, histories, and more.   This entire campaign setting originated in the mind of a Beautiful human who passed away before it ever even began. This campaign started out as a tribute to Rachel Segue, lived 1990-2021. She was the parter of Wulf, and his wife Abregella, and friend, spirit guide, ray of light, to so many others around here, including the majority of people who are working on this world. "May Odin guide your journey until we meet again, my beutiful butterfly." -Wulf. This world primarily started out as a concept we didnt see a lot of; A high Fantasy (Elves, dwarves, magic, dragons) Weird West (Chupacabra, Bigfoot, Wendigo, Skinwalkers, zombies, vampires, ghosts, mines.) We had seen sci-fi westerns, weird wests, high tech, low tech, steampunk, but not High-Fantasy Weird West. And thus, the idea was born. In the attempt to bring this idea to life, the question had to be asked, why did we go from high magic, to a tech heavy (western) society? the stories told here, answer that question, over the span of hundreds of years. Welcome Adventurers, to the Dragonsong Chronicles.   This is a world, set within the Forgotten Realms, Dungeons and Dragons setting.   This story, begins in the year 1500, and currently active adventures are happening in the year(s) 1904 - 1906   Long ago, Dragons and Mortals, had a tenious relationship, arguing over land, power, resources. The Metallic dragons, wanted coexsistence with the other Mortal races, and learn how to benefit one another. The Chromatic dragons, had other, more violent plans. They raided mortal settlements, hoarded wealth, attacked wantonly, with no regard for life.   The Mortals began hunting the Chromatic Dragons, and eventually, all dragons. Slaughtering them for prestiege, clout, or the resources they offered. So the dragons fought back, the Chromatic Dragons joined together, to form an army, while the Metallic Dragons, opted for diplomacy, until one of their diplomats, an Ancient Silver Dragon, was executed during a diplomatic mission. The Metallic dragons joined the war after that, and it was gruesome.   The war raged, for 13 months, after a time the mortals, pushed the dragons to another, lost continent, known now as the Shattered Rifts. Hundreds of thousands, dead. Dragons went nearly extinct. The ones who continued on, did so in hiding, and the Mortals were so vengeful, they converted their diplomacy automatons, into assassin warforged, to make sure, there was not a single dragon left.   As a response to this proposed genocide, several mortals, rebelled, and joined the losing side of the dragons. They had a plan, crack the rifts, to perform a true summoning, of the Eldest Dragon, Tiamat.   They worked in secret, gathering the remains of slain dragons, and tapped into a major layline of the continent of Seo'Sa'Quesh, the original, lost name, of the Shattered Rifts. This layline, was a massive, uninterupted vein of pure liquid silver, that flowed through the entire trio of lands that are the Seo'Sa'Quesh. The ritual was underway, the mortals caught wind and attacked.   That was the last report. Dated Ches 13, The Claw of Sunsets, 1591.   What we know, is there was an explosion, that surrounded the entire continent in impenitrable miasma, we have found no records of survivors, and magic, was gone. Overnight, accelerated healing, cantrips, enchantment, magic items, magic barriers, airships, all magic touched things, and support systems, vanished in an instant.   It was later discovered, that those who were of divine cloth, somehow still had touch, with their powers. They used this to help patch the world, and help rebuild, for a while. It was then assumed that if new oaths could be made, perhaps too, could there be new contracts written. Civil war broke out, as the church, now a combined entity under the monikor, The Congregation of the United, made a bid for power, now that the normal pillars of arcana were shattered.   During this time, most common folk turned to the dwarves, gnomes, goblins, and kobolds. Groups that have been at war for centuries, united by a need for technology, as their natural gifts, vanished, saved a few. This new gathering was known as the Clockwork Conclave. They sheparded in a new era, of black powder, steam, and war. Those without magic sought a way to fought the magic wielders, for their own foothold.   This infighting, developed and evolved for 13 years, as technology advanced, and magic, stabalized. Magic was weakened, but a new generation came that could touch it, tenuiously. Nature magic, arcane magic, new divine tenants, this generation was known as the Reclaimer generation.   This history, focuses on Faerun, and primarily the Western Sword Coast. Mirrors of this history, exist throughout the continents of Faerun.   This story features events in the 1900's, where steam and black powder have peaked, the bnarriers around the Shattered Rifts have fallen, allowing entry since 1750, and the Main continent of Faerun, is in a industrial era.
