In a world where Earth is not just the only planet to host sentient life, unique men and women, from all races, just try to coexist, ignore hate and racism, and form relations and friendships.   The event that tipped the scales was the discovery of life on Mars on the first manned mission to Mars, Lucerne II, but events prior to that, as early as 2018, have been documented, although kept hidden from the public or disguised as hoaxes.   As of the late 2000s, early 2100s, Martians, now known as Aresians due to the cliche stimga attached to the word Martian, have been partially assimilated into Earth culture, some choosing to adopt Earth culture completely, some to dismiss it completely, others creating a new hybrid culture.   In the mid 2100s, an expedition started by Discovery, a not-for-profit organization motivated entirely by the notion of...well, it's in the name! It's said that the organization was originally started by a bunch of Trekkies.   But as many would find out, not all life out there is friendly, or even just benign. And that's just those close to home!
