The Airspear

A jet stream on land

Centuries ago, the desert city of Dustdancer—capital of Iskiss—was threatened by outside forces. The Iskonn people allied with the Ocean Mages (Culdurians) to create a unique defense. They forced wind and water from the sea to the south into a kind of crazy reverse river. A horizontal pillar of cloud and air blasted northward and was magicked about so it swirled around the capital, creating an enormous, endless dust storm.   This conduit still exists today. They call it the Airspear. And it starts at the mouth of The Delta of a Thousand Teeth… so named for the massive archipelago that resides inside the triangular body of water.   These islands are not tourist destinations. They are dangerous—buffeted by constant winds and racing fog that howls northward into the Airspear. The currents are treacherous, making seafaring a suicidal prospect.
