The Artificial Gods

Even though there are a multitude of gods of all kinds in the dark utopia that you can worship, hate or ignore, there are always those who are simply not satisfied with what is on offer. Some particularly clever cults believe that the simplest solution to this problem is to create their own perfect god. This may be easier said than done, but thanks to advanced technology, forbidden magical knowledge and the remains of dead gods, there is a wide range of options available to achieve this goal. Each of these so-called artificial gods is created in a variety of ways, but often involves assembling parts of various dead gods and other powerful beings (hence why they are also called patchwork gods). Each of these artificial gods is a unique entity in every way. Even though these artificial gods are still more powerful than most typical dark beings after their "birth", only a few of them manage to become true deities. Not to mention that the process of creating a god involves great risks and the outcome can be unpredictable. At worst, the result is an insane, pain-stricken monster that despises its existence and will destroy everything they encounter, starting with their creators. While others lead miserable, tragic, self-hating existences, preferring to hide from the rest of the dark utopia. Most of them end up as arrogant petty tyrants, ruling over a small cult in some forgotten corner of the dark utopia. Those of them who actually manage to achieve at least a true spark of divinity never look back and do everything they can to keep their past a secret.
