Spirit Painting

A ritual performed by the Nymphs  in the forest, usually when the sun and warmth make their powers whole lots stronger, and one of their favorite creative acts. This is also one of the sirens and forest rulers favorite shows and comes primarily in the heat of summer parties, organized by the king or queen of the woods.

History

The nymphs have expressed this as one of their first forms of art. Their myths say that they came into this world as colorful spirits amongst the skies, who decided that they wanted to fly amongst the birds and run with the wolves, even though they loved dancing the entire day long. This long ago, they did it on a daily basis, as if they needed it as water and food.   Once the humans took over the land and destroyed the forests, nymphs were too scared for them to use their powers this much, and fear hindered their gifts. This period of change was known to them as the Grey Times, in which spirit painting wasn't possible anymore since most of them had to flee to the heart of the woods, where humans didn't dare to come.   Some time later, when the forest started choosing its rulers and prevented any more trees, which are like second bodies to the nymphs, from being cut down they danced every summer for the king or queen out of gratitude for what they had done for their people. Unlike the beginning, they still can't use their powers all the time, but instead use them once the sun starts shining, and they are at their strongest.

Execution

Once a nymph goes back to their tree, they become a spirit for a short period of time that flies to their second body. This spirit looks like colorful, transparent silk that can dance and in this way create beautiful sceneries. Instead of returning to the tree, they stay in this form and create spectacles in groups from seven to eighteen, remaking sceneries from history or dancing as a bunch of colors in harmony.

Participants

All the forest inhabitants watch it at least three times a week once the season arrives. The participating nymphs change every week, so everyone gets a chance to dance for their king or queen, but most importantly, honor the ways of their ancestors.
