The Whistling Beckon

A set of islands that have formed a natural canyon through the middle of it. There are mountains that cause wind to make a low whistling noise when it flows through it, which echoes across the entire chain The islands on either side of the canyon have been quarreling with each other for a long time, and it seems as though a civil war is soon going to break out because each side is paranoid the other is going to attack them first. The conflict started over the right side wanting to industrialize over the mountains, which has a chance to eradicate the whistling noise. The left side wants to keep the mountains preserved.

Geography

There are 16 islands on the left side on the mountain and 14 on the right side. The islands are only connected by a large mountain range on the north side of the chain. The only from one side of the chain to the other are a few man-made paths through this mountain range, called The Vauxridden Mountains. When wind blows near the mountains it makes a low whistling noise that echoes throughout the entire chain. In between the two sides of the chain is an underwater canyon. This canyon is naturally made, and the walls of it are filled with small caves.   Across the land part of the islands are lots of long and rolling plains, some which stretch across multiple islands. There is a lot of tall grass and hills, but not a lot of forests and wood. There are also many exotic flowers and plants found along these rolling plains.

Fauna & Flora

There are many exotic kinds of flora found on the rolling plains and hills of The Whistling Beckon. There are poisonous flowers which the locals refer to as Bloodplants, which look like regular flowers, except the stems are filled with a toxic that's lethal if ingested. However those are rare and most of the time when looking for flowers, you'll find very safe and beautiful plants. As for fauna, the only animals that can truly thrive in The Whistling Beckon are animals that don't need water to survive, due to the extreme lack of natural rivers and lakes. The most common creatures found in The Whistling Beckon are goats however.

Natural Resources

There are a lot of different kinds of ores and jewels found underneath the shell of The Whistling Beckon, many of them can be easily accessed through the caves in the canyon. The flowers also make a fair amount of money for many people throughout the island, either harvesting Bloodplants for poisons, or becoming a gardener. There isn't however, a lot of natural wood throughout the entire island, so most everything is made of metal and bricks.

History

The Whistling Beckon was found by two human brothers, Elliot and Yennil Vauxridden. It was discovered a lot later than many of the island chains and soon word quickly spread about its beautiful landscape and mountains. Many people began coming, and at first they all settled in on the right side of the chain and quickly set up towns away from the plains.    Soon, more and more word spread about the island's unique properties and more people began coming in, this time settling on the left side. However, there was not enough space on the left side to chain to house all the new people coming in. Many of the people on the left side wanted to build towns on the mountains so that more people could live there, but the people who had already come in to the right side objected to this. The dispute has been going for for a few months and the island was founded only a year ago.
There are a lot of races who's culture is centered around the nature on the left side of The Whistling Beckon. Races like elves and firbolgs are most common here, but there a lot of other races as well there. The right side is a lot more diverse, but the most common race is humans. The crime rate is relatively the same across both sides, it's relatively low.
