Anaxos Palace Complex

The Anaxos Palace Complex was a large compound in the city of Senoma in the Sunlit Isles. It was the seat of power for House Anaxos, a major noble Daphnea family after the Imperial War.

Alterations

As House Anaxos began to pursue treasure-hunting in far away lands, they added a museum to the complex, at the foot of the central palace tower. This addition was completed in 6871.

Architecture

The complex was a significant artistic achievement in Daphnea architecture, especially in Senoma, which traditionally had not been a place of architectural experimentation in the Sunlit Isles. The complex combined traditional Daphnean construction techniques with some subtle Kantaran styles, seen by those returning from Tritan.
On the whitewashed outer walls of the complex were wavy patterns of sky blue and maroon, the latter a color characteristic of eastern Kantaran city-states. On the western edge of the complex was a massive wall covered with murals telling the story of how the Daphnea expelled their Kantaran oppressors.
In the inner parts of the complex, expansive gardens flanked individual structures such as servants' quarters, kitchens, ballrooms, sitting areas, fountains, statues, and barracks for the security force stationed on the premises. 
The innermost part of the complex was the central keep. This structure resembled a number of buildings pressed together and connected with elegant walkways adorned with colorful murals, which depicted sea life and idealized visions of agriculture. In the keep was a swimming pool, a bathhouse, a museum, a gathering room, a dancing chamber, several bedrooms, a statuary, a painting room, and the private quarters of the familial head.

History

During the later years of the Kantaran Occupation of Beurum, known as the Imperial War, House Anaxos, previously a somewhat minor noble family, played a key role in freeing Senoma from Kantaran rule. One of the main participants in the sacking of major Kantaran cities in Tritan, they used the wealth to construct a massive palatial complex, tearing down their old building.
