Root Worms

Rootworms are parasitic worms similar to Tapeworms. They enter their host through the drinking of water. Once this has occurred, the host will begin to experience nausea and a slight fever. If the infected individual is given various concoctions and placed in conditions that are either very cold or very hot, then the Rootworm inside of them will die. If not, the Rootworm will lay eggs within the intestines of the host, and these eggs will usually hatch within a day. The newborn Rootworms will spread through the body, laying even more eggs. It is not too late for the host to be treated, this time through the usage of enemas and the body being almost fully submerged in cold or very hot water for hours at a time. If this does not occur, the worms will continue to grow. After three days, the infected individual will begin to experience the feeling of something squirming inside of them. The colony of worms inside of them will begin to create tears within the digestive system of the human, leading to vomiting, sharp intestinal pain. By this point, the only way to save the host is through the usage of Anima magic. If that is not available, the best course of action is to kill the host and burn the body. That way, the host will be spared the Rootworms freeing themselves from the digestive system, allowing them to access areas such as the spinal cord and the brain. Once that occurs, the host's body will begin to morph. Their bones will shrink and their fat and muscle tissue will grow. After a period of twelve days, the host will have turned into a sphere of flesh with no limbs, unable to move. This sphere will act as a hive for an entire colony of Rootworms.   They are mostly common in The North West, stretching from Talamh to Diqui.   Similar to Rootworms were Enyeds. Instead of being parasitic worms, they were parasitic wasps. Rootwasps would have been a better title, but that isn’t important. The Enyeds were created through anima magic, bending normal wasps into something far more grotesque. This was done by ancient mages for purposes in war.   Only male Enyeds could sting. If one was to be stung by an Enyed, they would experience two systems. The first was paralysis. The second was the production of pheromones alerting other Enyeds. A female Enyed would then travel into the host through the ears, nose, or mouth, bringing various males with her. They would then work on transforming the host into a hive. Like with Rootworms, the host’s bones would shrink and their tissue would grow, but instead of turning into a sphere, their physical appearance would change to a large cone of flesh. Holes would be drilled through the body of the host, allowing the Enyeds to leave quickly. The host would have become a hive.   The Enyeds were only ever used as a weapon, as they were all part of a single hive mind under the domain of the Enyed queen, which was not an Enyed, but a giant tree created through Anima magic. Mages could touch the tree and enter the minds of the Enyeds, moving them around. When the tree was burned, the Enyeds did not all immediately die, but instead simply acted like animals free of control. However, they seemed to have lost the ability to reproduce, and as such, there were no more Enyeds within the span of a month.
