Ulffencrest
Nestled into the western slopes of the Fjardic Mountains, the Suraffen Glacier has slowly carved out a deep ravine which feeds directly into the river Svennja. Up here, in the dizzying heights of the mountains is the city of Ulffencrest - the highest altitude major populated area in all of Veligskör. Ulffencrest is famous the world over, as it is here that many come to witness one of the greatest wonders of the natural world: the Fjardessa. Constantly drifting overhead, held aloft by an unseen and unknowable force, the frozen clouds create incredible lights in the sky as sunlight and moonlight refract through the sheer ice. The city was founded as a place of worship, and remains so to this day, not only for the Skal of Arvendell, but by the Yeffrian and various Sachonn faiths also. In recent years, the city has become under much contention, as the Elector Council of Fjarda accepted terms for the regulated exploitation of the Fjardessa in a practice that has become known as Skymining. The substance collected, known as Arkales, has revolutionised the industries of the Eos Crown Union and the Arven Kinship, though the price has been paid in blood as violent conflicts continue to erupt among those travelling to Ulffencrest. As a result, access to the city has become limited and permission is required from Lord Electorates or reputable clan leaders before said access is allowed. Even so, many Skal faithful have taken to attacking Eos travellers, including official personnel, on the already dangerous road into the mountains. To avoid what Estamere has described as 'barbarism and banditry', an official dirigible port has been constructed north of the city.
