Restenbrudd

Restenbrudd is one of the southern-most settlements of Skalbaard, and has the most interaction with traders, visitors and pilgrims from Fjarda. Located on the north-eastern shore of Lake Gravann, it is here that the eponymous bridge spans the narrow northern straits of the lake, not far from the Fjardic city of Rhudaar. Restenbrudd is a relatively large town, at least by Skalbaarding standards, and has some of its largest freestanding structures, including the Skalbaardic Customs office, perhaps the closest thing Skalbaard has to an official governmental regulations branch. Many in Skalbaard see Restenbrudd as a necessary evil in the modern world, though few choose to go there, especially among the nomadic tribes. It is often seen as a temptation, with peddlers and buskers promising a different, less than holy way of life outside of Skalbaard's borders. It is ruled by Clan Ormvold, seen by many as the most power-grabbing and corrupting of the greater clans. Regardless, they prove to be valuable assets when dealing the with the other nations making up the Arven Kinship, and have the most knowledge of the state of the world outside of Skalbaard's borders. 
The thatched buildings of Restenbrudd, especially the longhouse of Orm-an-Dell, are the closest thing Skalbaard has to architectural excess, with carvings among the wood panelling inlaid with gold and jade paints.

Demographics

Restenbrudd is perhaps the most culturally diverse of Skalbaard's towns, which is to say predominantly Arven. It has more amassed wealth than most settlements outside of Nordhelm itself.

Government

Restenbrudd and its lesser clans swear fealty to Clan Ormvold.

Defences

The town of Restenbrudd is surrounded by a stone wall topped with wooden palisades. The urban spill-out has been bolstered by a series of stone watchtowers, which also line the road to the bridge proper.
