The Spotless Passenger

"The Orsen Hills neighbourhood--located within the northeast of Tarbach's Arvenstadt Borough--has been many things throughout the city's history, but since the mid-20th Century, it's been defined by its most prominent resident: Andervane University. Over the centuries since, the institution has grown in renown and in size, drawing people from all over the world to its doors. Although Orsen Hills isn't quite as densely packed as other parts of Arvenstadt (or are its buildings quite as tall), but the district is still highly traversible without a car. Visitors are likely to encounter more bicycles, electric motorbikes, skateboards, and small motorscooters than they are to run into a car or van. Gautier Square, a popular hub positioned a short walk away from the university campus' entrance, is home to many quick restaurants, small cafés, bars, and taverns that are renowned for their overwhelming charm, timelessness, and overall ambience."   --Artemis Bjerkeivok, "Tarbach in the 25th Century" (2466)
The Spotless Passenger is one such tavern, located in Gautier Square. Known for decent food and great drinks at a fairly reasonable price, the establishment has been quite popular with university students since its opening in 1971. in 2018, the tavern converted its basement into a social space with a secondary bar and a lounge, which is accessible to members of the city's mage community or those who are trusted with the passcode.

Purpose / Function

The Spotless Passenger is a tavern, meaning that it serves alcohol and hot food. The establishment's open area fulfils this purpose with an extensive bar, a kitchen, and table/booth seating. The tavern's basement's access conditions are a secret, but those who are privy to the information can experience a space frequented by the city's magically-adept.

Architecture

The style of The Spotless Passenger has been preserved since its opening in 1971. The building is quintessential mid-20th Tarbach, which resembles the real-world Mid-Century Modern style (particularly in furnishing, though Tarbachian Mid-20th utilises much more wood than its real-world counterpart.) The lighting is generally low-key and atmospheric and they tend to play more lounge-type music in the evenings.
