Osterdhen Inventions

Osterdhen Inventions is a long-standing, renowned weapons manufacturer from the Herdenese Republic. Founded in 2003, the company originally took a rather traditionalist approach to their business. Unlike the Eldureian Ironwood Armaments, which placed a similar emphasis on tradition but also sought to innovate, Osterdhen adhered to a strict philosophy of perfecting the current standard of the industry.    To their credit, they did. For the next 200 years, Osterdhen's handguns could be seen in the holsters of civilians across the continent, and their weapons armed the military of the Herdenese Republic almost exclusively.    In the 2210s, the paradigm shifted dramatically when caseless ammunition became more and more ubiquitous. Ironwood Armaments, who were credited with inventing the new technology were the first to saturate the market with compatible weaponry, and quickly became the titan of the industry. For the next century, Osterdhen Inventions balanced on the edge of obsolescence, refusing to adapt but remaining afloat due to their long-term contracts with the Herdenese military. It was only when the contracts were poised to expire in 2315 that the company's leadership felt the heat. Still, indecision from the company's founding family (who made up its leadership) led Osterdhen to lose most of their contracts with the Herdenese Republic.    Until the 2450s, they only manufactured one caseless weapon--the ZNK. The light, concealable pistol was a moderate success in civilian markets and even found some use with law enforcement agencies. However, it was not enough to rescue the company from its rapidly shrinking size.    In 2457, Eileen Vandenheuvel became the President and C.E.O of a rapidly declining Osterdhen Inventions. The company had been owned and operated by her family for centuries at this point, but Eileen feared that without a rapid reversal of fortune, they would have to go public or lose it all. Much to the disdain of her more conservative elders, Eileen decided to abandon the company's long-standing traditionalist doctrine. In her words, the company would modernise and focus resources on new development and research. Their first releases under the new leadership--modern updates on their iconic handguns were very successful.    In 2461, Osterdhen Inventions released the STC-12 (marketed as the Polaris), a caseless-ammunition PDW that was adopted by the Herdenese military, as well as special forces branches in the Emberleaf Republic Armed Forces. Under their new business model, the company is once again back in the higher echelons of the industry.

Assets

Annually, Osterdhen makes around $3.8 Billion in profits, and employ approx. 48,000 people.

History

In recent years, the company has moved towards an emphasis on mid-to-high price weapons for the consumer market, though their contracts with the NCA and with police forces in cities around the world keep them profitable regardless of a smaller civilian niche.
