Alvarizzi Technologies Grandinata

The design of the Grandinata is reminiscent of an early prototype developed a few years after the invention of caseless ammunition. Although that weapon never came to be, this rather odd design was improved upon with modern technology, like contemporary electronics to create the Grandinata. There are two versions of the Grandinata.
The Grandinata Type A has a shorter barrel and fires very small, high-velocity 3.22mm projectiles at nearly 2000 rounds per minute. The Grandinata Type B has a longer barrel and fires the standard NCASL 6mmCL rifle cartridges at around 950 rounds per minute.
They contain the electronics typical of weapons of this era, including a diagnostic computer, hud uplink, and holographic round-counter. However, rather than hologram sights or an accessory rail, the Grandinatas have an integrated optic.

The Grandinata Pattern Rifles make up the backbone of the Tuserdian Military's small-arms arsenal, with the Type-A being common on naval vessels and the Type B finding itself in the hands of most ground units. However, these weapons aren't very well-liked by the people who actually have to use them. Field maintenance is impossible under most conditions, the magazines are weirdly long and the weapon's ergonomics are strange. Allegedly, the rifles are undergoing a significant overhaul effort at the Alvarizzi Labs.
