School of The Griffin

The School of The Griffin is a witcher school located in Kovir and Poviss at Kaer Seren. At the height of their power, the Griffin witchers enjoyed great respect, with the school's grandmaster even being summoned to the courts of rulers to give advice. Like the school of the Bear and Wolf, the Griffins maintained strict neutrality. The school used to possess important magic books in its library. Throughout the ages, the other Schools respected the Griffins for their study of magic and fighting style that emphasized multiple opponents.
The School lost its home in the 12th Century when mages caused an avalanche that ruined Kaer Seren. A few surviving Witchers splintered off into two different Schools: the School of The Owl and the School of The Leshen.
The witchers who held on to the Griffin identity eventually found legal help and a second home in the Valour and Virtue tavern.

Structure

While they still don't have a rank system, the Griffin witchers consider older and more knowledgeable witchers as their superiors (more so than other schools).

Culture

Griffin witchers follow "knightly" values that shows in the way they carry out their trade. This School is the only witcher School that has no self-imposed restrictions against killing dragons. This school places a greater emphasis on Signs than other schools and greatly values knowledge. Like the School of The Wolf, its fighting style focuses on preparedness and flexibility. Also like the Wolf School, they encourage cooperation and teamwork.

Public Agenda

Like all witchers, Griffin witchers are monster slayers. Griffin witchers, however, carry their role with a sense of nobility and justice. They treat each other with respect and camaraderie and try to cooperate with members of other Schools if possible.

History

• Late 10th Century: Erland of Larvik amicably departs from the Order of Witchers with 13 of his closest friends and clears out Kaer Seren, establishing the Griffin School
• Early 12th Century: Mages cause an avalanche that destroys the Griffin School, School of the Owl and School of the Leshen form from some of the survivors 
• 13th Century: Remaining Griffin witchers acquire royal aid
