Fifthborn - Graced Ones

The Fifthborn are one of the shorter races, taller than the Fourthborn but not by much. They are however incredibly sleek on average with fine features. What truly sets them apart is the translucent wings the gently sprout from their backs. It has been heavily theorized that these wings do not function as normal wings as they could never support the weight of those who possess them but act as conduits for magic so that they can possess flight.   Fullblood
  • +1 Dexterity +1 Charisma
  • Wings of the Magic: While a Fifthborn can fly thirty feet a turn they may only stay in flight as many turns as their proficiency modifier before needing to land and stay grounded for just as many turns. However they may hold (Charisma Modifier or Dexterity Modifier x Proficiency Modifier.) charges for their flight. Charges are acquired whenever any magical effect occurs within ten feet times their proficiency modifier. These charges may be used to extend how many turns they remain in flight, reduce how many turns they must stay grounded or be used to extend their distance in flight during one turn by the amount of charges they use times five feet. If a graced one wishes to carry someone in feet refer to the size chart. Starting at Small at one charge and increasing by one charge per size rating up to large, a Fifthborn must expend that many charges per turn of flight while holding a creature aloft with them.
  • Gale of Magic: Fifthborn may base their flight entirely on the magic of the world but that does not mean they can not also harness it. The very same charges they used for flight can be used in essence to change the weaves of magic. A cantrip can be mimicked with a reaction for the cost of a charge, a first level spell for the cost of two charges. From then on the cost of mimicking a spell requires charges equal to the spell level squared. For example a fifth level spell would require twenty-five charges to mimic.
  Halfblood
  • +1 Dexterity
  • Wings of Their Own: Half blooded Graced Ones tend to be able to use their wings to support their weight to some regard without magical aid. They can travel as many turns in flight as their proficiency modifier and their speed is their (Proficiency Modifier x 10) feet. That is not to say the magic of their wings does not help them. They may use this magic as many times as their proficiency modifier to either double their speed in flight, requiring to land at the end of their turn, lift and then land with something of equal or less size, or add their dexterity modifier or charisma modifier onto any physical attack's damage as they speed to or around their target, requiring to land at the end of their turn. To regain the magic within their wings they must take a short or long rest and if they have no charges left they can not fly until the short or long rest has been taken.
