The Lion Guard

To you, my Lady, I pledge honor and life,
To the day my bones are to sail the Abyss.
To guard you and your blood from poison and knife,
None of your enemies my Hunt will miss.
— Oath of the Lion Guard, Pledge of the Pack

In honor you'll serve me, my blood and my heir.
To you, my hunter and guardian, I swear:
To be your high ground should you ever concede it,
My body: your shield, if ever you need it.
— Oath of the Lion Guard, Pledge of the Lioness

Structure

Only known to outsiders by her title of Lioness Cub, Devhon⁣⁣⁣, is the uncontested leader of the Guard, despite her young age. She leads her followers through her vision of restoring Fyr-Elfhafen⁣⁣⁣, starting by helping common citizens, with the occasional armed-protection assignment reminding the population of their prowess.
Serving as the second-highest authorities within the Guard, a small circle of close friends, titled as "Generals", some of which were veteran Lions before the fall of Fyr-Elfhafen⁣⁣⁣, act as advisers to the Lion Cub in important matters.
Whenever a group of Lions undertakes an assignment and neither the Lioness Cub or any of her Generals is involved, the leading authority is decided freely within the group. In some occasions, even though they will not be directly involved in the assignment, one of the Guard's authoritarian figures might impose a strict hierarchy on the venturing group, although this is a rare occurrence.

Public Agenda

The Lion Guard always maintained the same goal, the protection of the Crown and its position in Fyr-Elfhafen⁣⁣⁣.
Now stripped of most of its members, its influence and its position as the private guard of Fyr-Elfhafen⁣⁣⁣'s ruler, the Lion Guard currently works undercover as a mercenary group, closely guarding the Lioness Cub, their hope to restore their former glory. Being forced to work as common folk, the Lion Guard now interacts directly with the citizens of Fyr-Elfhafen⁣⁣⁣, contradicting its traditional behavior of seclusion within the royal keep.

Assets

Once in possession of a vast group of highly trained warriors, supplied with superfluous amounts of weapons and rations to protect the Crown, the Lion Guard now possesses hardly anything beyond what it can carry in its hands.
Some of its more experienced members can be seen carrying magical items they choose to use in their daily activities, but there is only a single item that unifies the Lions, the weapon of choice and family heirloom of the Lioness Cub, The Roaring Banner⁣⁣⁣. This symbol of unity is rumored to have belonged to the initial royal family in Fyr-Elfhafen⁣⁣⁣, attaining the status of magical item once the royal lineage mixed with elven blood.
After several successful assignments to protect certain influential establishments in the new Fyr-Elfhafen⁣⁣⁣, the Lions now possess something akin to an home base in The Wyvern Knight Beer Hall⁣⁣⁣, whose owner is visibly friendly towards the leader of the Guard.

History

Initially named the Fanged Guardians, this special division of great warriors was created as the first Royal Guard in Fyr-Elfhafen⁣⁣⁣. The Lions served faithfully under a life-binding oath to protect their Lord or Lady as needed, but when their city was destroyed, they were stripped of their position, their dignity, their liege, their life's meaning, and for a large part of its members, their own lives.
Now, after long years of decadence, the appearance of the Lioness Cub gives the now-named Lion Guard a relighted meaning in life, as well as a chance to redeem their honor, as they dedicate their lives to bring their new Liege back on the throne of Fyr-Elfhafen⁣⁣⁣.
However, the new leader of the Guard does not seem to be as focused on returning to power as some of its followers would expect, rather dedicating her time to helping the common citizens and gathering various "exotic" allies.
With their towering stone fortress replaced by a wooden tavern, and their shinning ornamented plates of armor replaced by leather straps and dirty capes, the Lion Guard currently follows the Lioness Cub in an strange path back to glory.
