Minor Temple of Melora

Between the hangars, inns and sturdy walls, stands the Minor Temple of Melora. Built from commoners sweat for commoner hearts, this site of worship presents a visage that pales in comparison to its less modest counterpart, Great Temple of Melora to anyone who cares for it, but most who visit this modest temple do not.

The Lady of the Sea does not need jewels, but faith. As tides and waves will claim what they need, but dedication is untouchable.
— Common saying at gatherings inside the Minor Temple of Melora

Architecture

Made mostly from wood, this humble temple uses large stones in its foundations, supporting a 2-story building which tries its best to peek above the roofs of the large hangars that surround it. Not long after its construction, the sea winds coming from the harbor started leaving its mark on the temple, rotting the edges of the wooden beams ever deeper.
With a large wooden door always ready to welcome any followers of the goddess, the temple remained sturdy against the passage of time, even if it did not look the part. Visitors would have barely more than a large hall in which to worship their deity, but most would consider it enough, as they were usually of lower birth and welcome the humility of the site.
Several thick wooden columns supported the main frame of the building, ending in an intricate system of arches that aided in holding up the ceiling.
Although barely used, a single tower on the most hidden corner of the temple served as the single access to the 2nd floor, and to the small room above it, looking into the harbor.

History

While the noblemen of old Fyr-Elfhafen had a great Temple built in honor of Melora, the amount of cultural pressure to keep away people of lower birth led to the need of another place of cult for the Lady of the Sea, to be used by lower-borns.
While the Great Temple of Melora was built using the finest materials and experts available to its patrons, from precious gems and metals and the rarest polished stone tablets to the most acknowledged mages in illusions an enchantments, the Minor Temple of Melora was mainly constructed using wood and raw stone.
It was a temple built by the common people, for the common people. Its construction was naturally supervised by the city guards, but no support was provided by the Crown, resulting in the simple and rustic look which characterized the Minor Temple of Melora.

Alongside most of the city, this place of worship was put to the torch in 3385, being destroyed alongside its larger counterpart.
