The Development of Contemporary Modern Magic
Formulated from the Well of the Aether, modern magic has become widespread through it's very nature of accessibility. Unlike Old Magic which relies on heavily on familial lineages and natural adepts to perfect a singular aspect of magic, Contemporary Modern Magic does not.
Rumored to have invented the fundamental systems of sharing magical abilities, the individual dubbed as Merlin is known to be the creator of modern magic. While it has been refuted by many of the Mage Towers as a topic of debate regarding the Creator, it is irrelevant when discussing the development of Modern Magic.
As for it's usage, it is widespread and encompasses all traditions and fields known today. What was once locked behind the various secrets of households and organizations for generations, are now shared commercially as services and teachings.
Old Magic, also known as magic from the Age of Divinity, is considered to be unfathomable to comprehend unless taught. Creature that were birthed in the years of the Age oF Divinity boasts skills and abilities befitting of Old Magic.
This magic is highly distinctive as most, if not all of Old Magic lack a Magical Insignia.
Instead of relying on a conduit to the Well of the Aether, the creature is able to manipulate their environment, their body, or a method to transmute mana into a source of tangible power. This is arguably stronger than contemporary magic, as most modern magic are mimickry of this age.
