Nexus Continent

General Information

The Nexus Continent is designed as a region of intense environment and constant warfare.   The various tribes underneath the lands of The Golden Crown, Nirath Empire and the Caldera Regency fight for supremacy over what little habitable land remains in the region.   Remnants of technology and relics from another age lie deep within these lands. Intrigued individuals from across the globe find themselves interested in what artifacts lie in wait in these lands.   Many of the unearthed items are sold for exorbitant prices, attracting the brave and foolhardy who dare venture into these lands.   See The Nexus Wars for further information on how warfare is conducted, and how it has been monopolized as a source of financial gain for these competing countries.

Caldera Regency

Just like ancient Greeks, a person's strength is paramount to social status.   In order to live in the Caldera Regency, a person must be strong in mind, and most importantly, body.   As it is deeply ingrained within their culture due to the effects of the natural disaster known as the The Gravity Well, it has forced their society to adopt a mentality of survival of the fitness quite literally.   While they do not discount intelligence or wit entirely, they prefer to witness one's physical prowess.   Taking the two ideas of the Ancient Greeks of Athens and the concept of a Gravity Well as a common natural disaster, gave rise to the Calederean's cultural desires and life philosophy.   They believe that only the strong may persevere in a world of strife though, to a degree of negligence in other aspects. Even if certain individuals are gifted in other skills other than strength they would be overlooked. They turn away from those who are lacking in physical strength, leading to a rejection of other physically inept heritages.   Many of the other heritages in the regions are known to be more physically sculpted in appearance. Considerable amounts bear some form of enhancements in order to live properly in the land. This can be through divine powers, medical or even magical enhancements.   While they frown upon these methods and prefer a physically sculpted form, they do not deny them outright. The ones that are more widely accepted as enhancements are magical runes and or tattoos.   Much of their culture is designed to be within the highest peaks of a Caldera, as living closer to the grounds makes them susceptible to natural disasters such as the Gravity Well.   Generally, Culture focuses similarly in that they enjoy the arts greatly in theater performance and physical competitions like the Olympics. Events are relatively held throughout their daily life, and they are always interested in displaying their skills to others, along with enticing others to live their way of life.   Fun note: The idea of The Gravity Well originated from an Episode from Gundam Unicorn "At the Bottom of the Gravity Well." While there is no actual contrast between Caldera and the episode, the naming structure eventually led to the initial designs of The Gravity Well.

Nirath Empire

The basis of the Nirath Empire stemmed from a mix of Final Fantasy Type 0 and The Saga of Tanya the Evil. A military-equse-like region ravaged by war, to expand and survive in a land made unfit for habitation.   Nirath's design is focused around a victorian-like era that has been affected by The Aliech Kingdom and The Principality of Grazia. Many other factions attempt to garner influence from this region for it's massive supply of Aetherium Crystals.    the Aetherium Crystals are reminiscent of technology that is considered as ancient Nexus artifacts. Bearing unknown properties that the current status quo of magical knowledge cannot comprehend, the most that can be done with it by the modern mage is simply to utilize it. Various amounts can be categorized in different purities, powers, and substances. It is unknown how these crystals are made, only how they are obtained.    Through intercontinental trade with other willing countries, it has brought about another level of prosperity. The region if it were to achieve peace and/or unity within Nexus, would allow it to become a Vence-like region focused on heavy trade of rare material and items locally only found in Nexus and Nirath.
