Personal history

Ealdwulf II was born in Hazelfall around a time of peace. In 525 YSC, he married his first love, Aethelburg, and they had a child. Sadly, Aethelburg died while giving birth to their beautiful baby girl. Ealdwulf named the baby after her. He was married to his second wife, Irma, in 533 YSC. It was with her that he had the rest of his kids: Hunstan, Ealdwulf III, Baldwin, Cynewise, and Estrid.
When his father, Ealdwulf I, died of malaria in 560, he was given the throne. He was quickly loved because of his caring nature and the united parts of the Mirrac and Anso clans. The Masne, the subspecies of Bearfolk that looks like the spirit bear, didn't like him due to his efforts of unifying their families against each other. King Leavold III of the Masne decided to stage an assassination attempt on him. So, a man tried to slip poison into his drink. Thankfully one of his guards noticed this in time and forced the man to drink the poison.

Ealdwulf was scarred by his near-death experience so much (the death of Aethelburg didn't help either) that he started to have anxiety attacks. Irma got him a bulldog to help him with his attacks. Ealdwulf loved the gift and spent every last minute with the dog. For the final years of his life, Ealdwulf finished unifying the Masne. He, unfortunately, contracted smallpox in 585 YSC and died a year later.

Mental Trauma

The assassination attempt made him on edge for the rest of his life. The death of his first wife and son, Hustan, made him nervous that it would happen again. He started having anxiety attacks due to his worries.

He had his trusty bulldog named Clug that helped him with his frequent anxiety attacks.
