The Short Step Forward - Session 2
The party, having left the children at a nearby Oak Tree. Began their exploration of the Briggs Harbor Manor, entering the back gate to discover two Gnolls playing with skulls. Leading the creatures to the side the party quickly dispatched them and disguised them as best they could so that no one would know about their entry.
Tinkerbell examined the runes on the Gnolls heads and discovered that they seemed to be magical in some way and that the runes extended below the Gnolls skin and into the muscles and bones beneath.
Linley discovered a pack of Crimson Firesand on one of the dead gnolls and the party disguised them, weekend at bernies style, to look as though they were asleep off to the side.
The party then scaled the back wall of the manor to the third floor where they broke and entered what appeared to be a large study. In a chair facing the desk was an older male figure, who looked as though they had been brutally tortured, and who was identified as being dead. On the floor of the study was the Lady Amelia that the party was searching for, holding a strange black dagger and shrouded in a strange purple mist-like aura.
The party attempted to remove the dagger from Lady Amelia who was unconscious and seemed to be experiencing some form of Miasma poisoning as seen from the purple spots appearing on her body. When they attempted to though both Linley and Ba'El'Thazar were harmed by the dagger and unable to remove it from Lady Amelia's grasp.
At this point, the party heard movement outside and chose to flee but in the chaos, Feye thought they felt a pulse in the neck of the person in the chair. In a panic, the party returned to the room and examined the body in more detail to determine that they are dead. However, they did discover that the person had written the word "fireplace" in blood before they had expired.
What will the party do next? With the sounds of Gnolls outside the window and within the Manor itself? Will they leave Lady Amelia or investigate the hint towards a Fireplace?
