The Shrouded Lands and the Frontiers.

The shrouded lands refer to the large portions of land covered by the Deep Bright(areas of dense magical radiation). Only home to monstrosities, and aberrations changed and mutated by the bright as well as altered and strange environments. These lands sit at the borders of the frontiers and are known for The Bright fall storms also known as bright surges. These storms are the result of the build up of energy in the denser areas of the bright which when it reaches a critical point is released as storms of energy. They are characterized by there releasing of large crystalline structures the solid form of the bright, as well as the dense liquid form of the bright. If left unattended to, these forms will change into the common form of the bright the cloud of energy that the bright is mostly known for. Among the contents released by bright fall storms is the dispersal of anomalies also called knots by mages. The few mages i have spoken to have described them as naturally occurring mostly unstable wild weaves(spells). Though how this happens i have no idea.   The Frontiers are areas of land being developed by the settled civilized peoples. They use prisoners, debtors, criminals, as well as those crazy free folk who seek freedom from civilization and laws. The frontiers are areas in which the bright is pushed back using large industrialized Bright lures or more specifically bright condensers. They intake the bright and condense it into its solid crystalized form from there it is either disposed of or alchemically treated to create spark powder or other alchemical creations. The frontiers are dangerous places full of crime, sickness both natural and caused by the bright as well as being under constant attacks by the creatures in the Shrouded lands. As well as where bright fall storms only affect the world periodically on the frontiers its a constant threat to life. The people that live in the frontiers are hard, resilient individuals able to withstand the worst of the world. The only habitats in the frontiers are closed shielded towns or homesteads with no exposure to the outside world. Special protective gear is required while out side in the less developed frontiers as well as the imbibement of bright purges, special alchemical tonics created to decrease the build up of the bright in ones body preventing bright sickness.

Fauna & Flora

Mutated and changed plants and animals. Life touched and changed by the presence and manipulation on them by the bright.

Natural Resources

Much of the vast and untouched lands retains an abundance of resources. Rationalist or Caster guilds/organizations have an established presence in the frontiers. This is because of their need to harvest bright for transport, used by casters who expose them selves to it in order to produce Chroma. These organizations also collect and harvest the threads of powers which are contained within the bright. These threads are used in weave or pattern production, and are largely harvested from knots or natural weaves/patterns.

History

The terraforming or development of the shrouded lands started a generation or so after the war of enlightenment also known as the enlightenment wars. This is because the Seeree empire was the first group to develop the bright lure technology. After the Ancient Alliance destroyed the Seeree they requisitioned the knowledge of bright lures creation. This led to the development of lands which later became geopolitical powers who fought for independence and right to self govern. Free from the influences and laws of the Ancient Alliance and the Sanctum Cities that make it up. These independent lands continued the exploitation and colonialism they were once subjected to. They established colonies and frontiers of there own. Which are now the frontier lands in the modern era.
