Leila Khalil The Sky bound enchantress

Brightbound Leila Khalil (a.k.a. The Sky bound enchantress)

Write about a pirate of your world. What are they famous for?   Leila Khalil was born 751 ADA in the month of Marder on Utaniday 751/10/3. Better known as the sky-bound enchantress, she is a Xovjurish pirate operating out of the continent of Xovjurasesh and raiding and plundering the southernmost bottom half of Vledath. Almost nothing is known about her early life, but likely a young wise woman or what we call a priestess for one of the many Abiez tribes or clans that call the great desert of Xovjurasesh home. Though more likely a talented Brightbound even at a young age. Being an early caster savant her Abiez tribe likely sought the last of the Atfal-Al-Stanareh or the Children of Enlightenment, students, and followers of the sorcerer King's teachings. Some of the early adopters and leaders of modern casting and weaving sought out to educate the tribe's young priestess in the way of casting and the creation and production of weaves.   This knowledge benefited her greatly allowing her to become one of the most successful aeronautic privateers in modern history. She specializes in the sieging of aeronautic crafts in-flight using her specially trained crew of aeronaut air divers. Sieging mostly merchant and trades craft, though military or other crafts were not exempt from her piracy. After capturing the capital ship of House Irnsealji a merchant lord's house in the Sanctum City of Adhbah named the Adorned Maiden, renaming it the Enchantresses Sword. She became a renowned pirate, her nickname derived from her ability to influence the minds of both hers and her targets crew. These abilities allowed her to often take a ship or vessel bloodlessly. She quickly bolstered her numbers and added several ships to her fleet. One of the greatest crew acquisitions occurred when Leila Khalil decided to incorporate the Dajahit those infected with the painted pestilence. The Dajahit derive their name from the parasite that they are inflicted with. The parasite gifts the terminally ill Dajahit resistance to magic, a higher pain threshold, and increased regenerative ability. Though the parasite must consume the chroma or essence of living beings typically feeding off the chroma of Brightbound also growing in and consuming its vessel. The Dajahit are typically part of veteran mercenary companies who throw themselves into battle for the highest bidder before their inevitable painful end. Many become hunters of Brightbound or guards in royal or notable houses. Their affliction causes their skin to take on variegated colorful patterns often making their skin look like the canvas of some abstract work of art. The most famous of the Dajahit being the general, commander, of the Sorcerer Kings armies and close confidant Afsin Abbas Kaur the blood-stained bastard of Adhabah. Dying in the conflict between Ancient Alliance-backed merchant lords and the royal family then consisting of the Sorcerer Kings children. Afsin Abbas Kaur died beside one of the Sorcerer King's daughters fighting the overwhelming forces of the combined forces of the Sanctum Cities. It is believed and often rumored that an altered/mutated version of the Dajahit parasite was experimented on to create the Undyne the Shadow Towers hunters of the Brightbound.   Leila Khalil was an intelligent and calculating leader often spurning the use of violence but not beyond it, preferring to rely on her fearsome reputation and her talents and abilities. She is romanticized seen as an inspirational archetype for the underclass and revolutionary elements around the world.

Early life and history

At a young age around 7 or 8 years old, Leila Khalil was placed and enrolled in a companions guild and educated and trained until reaching adulthood in which the graduates would be suspected to be employed by the guild or enter in a career that benefits the in the case of Leila Khalil the Drazgiani Courtesans. The guilds make it very apparent that graduates must pay back the capital the guilds invested into them or in refusing to do so or unable to do so facing all of the consequences and the influence of the guilds, leading to their lives and future prospects being ruined. Already being a notable Brightbound she took to the guilds teachings with ease. The Courtesans are a companion of skilled, well-educated, and well-respected members of a guild. One of several registered and formal Companion guilds. They are professional courtesans and entertainers among many other roles. While they do often engage in a form of formal state-sanctioned prostitution, they are treated with significant respect and deference by most. Many obtain positions as trusted consultants, companions, and counselors and often act as advisers in many aspects of their client's life. Typically trained from a very young age to be well cultured and well-educated in several areas before reaching adulthood, graduating, and beginning their career. Some areas of study and training of the members of the guild include psychology, music, fighting, languages, and training in the Meanusas mind arts and blade singing along with training to become a modern Brightbound and learning the art of casting and weaving.     It's at the Drazgiani manor estate where Leila Khalil learned many of the most significant skills in her arsenal to this day. The Drazgiani Courtesans were desired and coveted for their use of the Meanusas mind arts and for being expert Blade singers which were used in artistic performances for their clients and hosts. Though these two skills also make them notable combatants and assassins. The Meanusas mind arts consists of two parts the use of weaves/patterns to influence the minds and emotions of their clients and the subtle manipulation of their clientele through the aspect of their chroma expression. Though the first part of the Meanusas mind arts the use of weaves and patterns to manipulate a subject's mind and emotion is commonplace specifically seen among imprinter nations. The second part of the arts has only truly been mastered by a slight few including Drazgiani courtesans graduates. It's evident that the chroma of a Brightbound besides just being a unique signature of the caster also retains aspects of its owner. These aspects include the caster's emotions, thoughts as of the time of casting, as well as retaining a slight will or unconscious thought of the caster, the ego of its master. It is this that experts in the Meanusas mind arts control. In normal cases, a Brightbounds unique chroma signature including the aspects within it would be used to identify them. Through the use of chroma graphs or other such technologies.   Through the controlled release/expression of their chroma within an area, a Drazgiani Courtesan can subtly control the feelings and even thoughts of those around them. To do so they have to be of two minds. They must truly have the feeling/thought expressed within their chroma but also be of another mind, most likely a subconscious mind one able to control their emotions and thoughts able to manipulate their true feelings as the situation dictates. The Courtesans use this unique ability within their career they read their client's emotional and physical body language and use their abilities to get or help get their client's desired outcome. It takes many years to master the art most are unable to control their chroma expression and often end up overcasting and becoming a beacon. This occurs when a caster's body prepares there chroma reserves for continuous or powerful casting. Their chroma becomes energetic and is unconsciously released from the body making it visible lighting up the user in the glow of their unique chroma signature. In almost all instances their chroma would go to the powering and control of their weaves/spells this is where the users of Meanusas mind arts diverge from the observed convention. Most specialists in the mind arts happen to be women it is rare for a male to master the art. The only male to truly master the Meanusas mind arts is Abu Salathah The Sorcerer King himself though there are many other competent male users.   On top of the Meanusas mind art, the Drazgiani Courtesan also became expert Blade singers. The unique weapons technique incorporates special weaves/spells to alter and manipulate its user's acoustics/sound combined with the use of specialized weapons. These weapons are made up of a unique composite material created even before modern Thaumafikators. Its purpose is to act as an amplifier for its user's sound waves. The full extent is to reach an acoustic resonance with another material to be able to easily cut through it. Blade singers can use sound to achieve and perform many actions. As the name suggests Blade singers are trained to keep a "song" which can vary greatly from moment to moment. Blade Singers outside of the Drazgiani Courtesan are bards, singers, dancers, and entertainers. Many perform in traveling acts throughout the world. Though this is just a cover most are assassins, spies, and criminals often using their unique skills for some unknown nefarious end.   Leila Khalil learned quickly of the Drazgiani Courtesan ways and became an apprentice Courtesan at the age of 17. Normally an apprentice would shadow a graduate courtesan, helping them apply cosmetics, helping them dress along with other domestic chores before coming of age, and becoming graduates of the guild. Though Leila Khalil was already being demanded and brought the attention of many affluent and noble houses. Indalecio Irnsealji a merchant lord and at the time, head of house Irnsealji paid ten times that of Leila Khalil's al-afa (Chastity) Dowry. The original leaders of the Dragiani guild decided to approve the marriage in earnest despite being against social-cultural norms and the guild's own policies being that Leila Khalil was still two years away from adulthood. Leila Khalil was scheduled to be quickly transported to the Irnsealji estate before any controversy befell the guild. Leila Khalil's writings shed light on her thoughts after finding out the guild's decision for her, she wrote.
I as a member of the Drazgiani Courtesans, hold the right to choose or refuse my clients. I revoke the guilds choice of client that they made on my behalf. I will not and would never with respect ever choose amlir Indalecio Irnsealji for whoses his house is named. I am not property to be bought and sold..... Leila Khalil 766 on the last day of the month of Ranuum.
Though despite her unwillingness to wed the wealthy merchant lord and despite not reaching womanhood the guild continued with their decision the substantial monetary funds definitely swayed any reservations they had. Though as we all known Leila Khalil did not married amlir Indalecio Irnsealji she didn't even come face to face with him on the designated date. No Leila Khalil the sky-bound enchantress with the help of a male Drazgiani Courtesan dominated some crew and hijacked one of House Irnsealji's prized aeronautic crafts their capital ship the Adorned Maiden. The male Drazgiani Courtesan lost his life in the escape and is unidentified to this day. Under her control, the capital ship now named the Enchantresses Sword hastily vanished. Only to be identified later by the few survivors of the Drazgiani estate shelling/bombing. The Guild would later rebuild losing the technique of blade singing. But significantly rebuilding their reputation and honor.   Enraged her wedded betrothed the head of House Irnsealji, Indalecio Irnsealji tracked his lost property and ship into the great desert beyond the protection of the Sanctum City. Overconfidently leading a small fleet of armed ships he moved to engage his lost capital ship. Believing in his experience and being confident that he could best his young betrothed Indalecio without fear assaulted his lost capital ship. This would be the last thing he ever did Indalecio Irnsealji head of the house Irnsealji was outmaneuvered his ship gunned down. He was discovered later in his command bridge with his elaborately ornamented dagger thrust through his heart.   Leila Khalil would be sheltered by a hidden unseen city its inhabitants most likely being the remnants or even ancestors of her original Abiez tribe or clan. It is there in the unseen city where Leila Khalil still carries out her assaults and plans her acts of piracy.

Legacy

Leila Khalil commands a crew of more than 300 bodies and several aeronautic crafts. A percentage of her crew is made up of the Dajahit scorned and ostracized by society for their afflictions ability to innately disrupt the foundations of modern society. That foundation is the rationalist casters' Brightbound weave/pattern infrastructure powered by the chroma or essence of different lifeforms. They are fed on the chroma of captured unransomed Brightbound. Their captain uses her gifts to ease the pain caused by the Dajahit parasite. The Sky-bound enchantress has pirated numerous vessels worldwide. From the advanced coat of arm vessels of the GAIP to the often unprotected and vulnerable ships of the League of Free Nations trade and merchant's vessels. She often hits the targets that paid the largest ransom. Which were essence harvesting vessels the industrial dynasties that own the vessels are likely to pay large funds to reobtain their property as to not hold up business. Unransomed vessels are refitted and repurposed and sent to anti-imperialists and revolutionary organizations. The Sky-bound enchantress has been known to use her ill-gotten gains to support and fund her people and other local Abiez clans. A significant portion of her wealth goes to the upkeep and repairs of local holy sites, monuments, and shrines in which the Abiez tribes use to worship their various unsanctioned gods. Farr-aoun sanctuaries are maintained oasis and holy sites where no conflict or harm may occur, these safe areas are for pilgrims and the tribes to converge. Poetry and music are shared and performed freely as it is believed to be the language that can reach the gods. The Kassaed al-saoud or the ascension poems is the Abiez clan's sacred texts and an important source of their culture and traditions and some of the greatest literary achievements of the Xovjurish people.

Leila Khalil carries and is competent in her use of her customized ornamented silver sabre. Close combat is her preferred method of attack being protected and shielded by her own wards and defended by her loyal crew.

Mental characteristics

Education

With her upbringing, and being educated in the Drazgiani Courtesan guild at a young age. Leila Khalil had an excellent education beyond that of most. Her education likely gave her the tools and set of skills and knowledge to overcome most obstacles in her path.

Employment

At a very young age and showing promise in casting and weaving Leila Khalil was trained as a wise woman/priestess in her clan/tribe making her a notable brightbound. Her time with the Atfal-Al-Stanareh or the Children of Enlightenment benefited her greatly in training and becoming a Drazgiani Courtesan. After which she used her knowledge and skills to become a successful leader of a privateer crew.

Failures & Embarrassments

In the prime of summertide in the month of Straord on Madraday Leila Khalil was finally apprehended thanks to a joint task force of military and law enforcement organizations spanning different nations. Imprisoned in one of the GAIP coat of arms capital ships, where she was interrogated and tortured. The ship was escorted by a fleet of armed aeronautic vessels. The fleet was ambushed by Leila Khalil's loyal Dajahit in a desperate suicidal assault. The Dajahit with the help of a pathfinder and trailblazer of the paths, extradimensional corridors, rifts, or a gate to the beyond into the multiverse and outer planes, managed to traverse and navigate the paths and find a route to their imprisoned captain.    This desperate action while being illegal by the Treaty of Metaphysical and magical autonomy in 731 ADA is also extremely hazardous. Many that go into or find themselves in the paths never return. Doing the impossible and immerging from a path the Dajahit crashed their aeronautic ships into the fleet crippling many of the escort ships and severely damaging others. The sky-bound enchantress's aeronaut air divers managed to board the vessel through its damaged armor and hull. Her crew fought there away to her in blind zealotry succeeding in freeing her. Escaping with the help and distraction of her crew Leila Khalil managed to escape to her base in the unseen hidden city of the great desert.

Mental Trauma

Being powerless when the Drazgiani Courtesan guilds leaders "sold her" forced her to marry amlir Indalecio Irnsealji. Leila Khalil has gained a distrust of authority figures and organized groups and hierarchies. The breach of trust from her higher-ups in the guild played into and confirming her distrust in people. She likely uses this event as an excuse for her anti-social behaviors and tendencies. Giving the disgusting and immoral nature of her trauma it would be safe to diagnose her with some form of psychological disorder. Adding in the fact she has been a notable Brightbound since childhood it would be safe to conclude the development of an adversion a mental break or condition only affecting Brightbound. The years of purposeful exposure to the bright for the purpose of chroma production take their toll on the Brightbound.

Social

Religious Views

A devoted and faithful servant to the unsanctioned and heretical polytheistic gods of her people's religion. The foundational threads of the indigenous Xovjurish religion are rooted in animism. The early ancestors of the Xovjurish tribes or clans originally believed that all things possess a spirit or essence. These beliefs evolved into a kind of polytheism or paganism likely due to the forebearers witnessing and observing the preternatural abilities of powerful beings and lifeforms, that still inhabit the Xovjurasesh continent. A number of their different deities and gods are most likely conceptual associated with a specific place or tribe many representations of natural phenomena or abstract concepts. Though, likely, many did actually exist many could have been insignificant lesser divines them being associated with a specific area or tribe has to do with the fact it's their territory or hunting ground. These beings' disappearance could be acquainted with natural causes leading to their extinction or caused by the mortal race's hand. Through their systematic hunting and decline of their species. Many were killed in the early crusades and chivalrous acts and displays. Many more in modern times are being harvested for energy production by the essence harvesting industry.   It should be remembered that the people of Xovjurasesh were not a unified and homogenous group of people. Xovjurasesh consisted of many tribes and clans whose affiliations and traditions differed greatly. Xovjurasesh was not isolated from major historical events and upheavals the continent's inhabitants participated in the wider culture often being part of trade routes and vassals of great empires. The continent bridges and connects the continent of Vledath to the continent of Reyathia which was largely settled in the last age. Their beliefs and traditions influencing the Abiez and other groups throughout the lands.   What is certain is that they still refuse to acknowledge The Celestial Legion and The Hierarchy of Divinity the successors of the divinity and ascension wars. World spaning conflicts were the divine and their followers fought for supremacy. Lesser pantheons and divine being subjugated or eliminated by the victors. The remaining pantheons and divines being absorbed and incorporated into The Celestial Legion and The Hierarchy of Divinity. Being the single universal and largest religion throughout the world. Spread by the Sanctum cities even after the ascension of the divine and abandonment of the mortal races. Its doctrine being universally acknowledged as the one true set of principles. Their unwillingness to adopt the one true religion is likely since none of their divines were incorporated into it and ascended like the rest, not truly being divine.

Wealth & Financial state

Leila Khalil felt a comfortable life her clan/tribe trying to provide for the young brightbound in doing so providing much of their wealth and valuables in the education of their wise woman. Especially now Leila Khalil faces no economic hards ship being that she is a competent privateer and leader. She has only increased her wealth and disposable income.
