(General) Galic Family-structure

In The Free Cities of Galos, your ancestry is traced through the mother's side of the family, your last name is Half and Half of each parent's original last name.

Aunt/Uncle relations

Your Mother's siblings are considered to also be your mothers. Even your mother's brothers(Until they are married) as well. and any children they have are considered to be siblings. It is not however reflected on the Father's side.

Mother-Child Relations

Each of your mothers will help in raising the children alongside the Father, the Mother's sisters are almost always married to the same man, this is not the same for your mother's Brothers however, They will usually be married off to another family and are only considered one of your mothers until such has occurred. Children will usually not know who their "true mother" is, and the Mothers will often breastfeed children that they didn't give birth to personally (If they're still producing breast milk)

Expectations of the Father

The Father is expected to run some sort of business to provide for his family, while the Mothers will divide other everyday tasks up, although it is also acceptable for the other Mothers to find employment if their sisters have agreed to it. Fathers are expected to provide their children an education, teach them valuable life lessons, and test their children's moral character. The Ideal father is overly-affectionate to his children, a good teacher, and able to cook a grand meal on command.

Housing

Most families live in large homes, which usually will contain 3 separate generations living in the same home. Family houses tend to have a greenhouse, electricity generated via solar panels smuggled into the Box world, and other amenities.

Inheritance, and Homosexuality

The Mother's female heirs will inherit the family home jointly, while the male heirs will be sent off adventuring throughout the world until their family is able to arrange a marriage. After which both families will contribute funds, and/or resources to build a new home for the son to live in and for his wives to own.

When it comes to homosexuality, if they're a son their family will breathe a sigh of relief because they won't have to pay for a house, but if they are one of the daughters one of two things will occur: If she has siblings to carry on the family name to future generations, they won't have any problems with it, but if they're an only-child this will cause the parents to freak out about who will carry on the family

Homosexual children are often sent off to the Galic College, although the daughters are always welcome in their home, but the sons are expected to find their own way
