Having completed his first term President Hamilton wins his second term in office against James Madison. President Hamilton reveals the American preservation plan.Hamilton claimed this plan would preserve the United States as the current trajectory they were on would lead to collapse. The American preservation plan consisted of 4 core reforms. “The phase out of slavery”Hamilton cited the constitution that stated all men were created equal and the hypocrisy of owning slaves.Hamilton also pointed to ,his previous political opponent, Thomas Jefferson’s hatred for the slave trade. “The need to stop expansion and consolidate current territories”Hamilton used the Roman Empire as an example of over expansion and asked the people is they desired the same fate for their newly won nation. “The need for a strong central government”Hamilton recalled the chaos of the Articles of Confederation and showed how expanding the government size brought order the United States during the revolution and went on to state how the increased federal control helped America win the war. “The dissolution of state boundaries”Hamilton viewed the states as little more than stepping stones to a united nation.Hamilton wanted a singular republic with a dynamic economy.   While the American preservation plan was at first controversial his supporters came to agree with Hamilton and the opposition of democratic republicans was too small to object.
