The Blasted Steppe

In December 1965 hundreds of lifeless alien ships crashed into the earth, causing untold devastation across the globe, and ending civilisation as we know it. 250 years later humanity has rebuilt, and the centre of all civilisation is The Blasted Steppe: six billion square miles of desert, grassland and forest surrounding what once was Mongolia.   In the North the mighty and religious trade cities send airships across the Steppe, but guard their own lands fiercely, and seek to bring all of the known world under their banner. In the South the two great scavenger cities of Kynang and Javkhann are wracked with internal conflict and intrigue, with revolutionaries and shadowy agents around every corner. In the east meanwhile, there is relative peace between the various feudal city-states, even as their spies wage proxy wars and amass power among the various powers of the Steppe.
