The Blackened

After the discovery of renewable energy, human kind moved forward in leaps and bounds. Peace was made between all nations, and coexistence had been achieved. Quickly, Earth became a cyber utopia, brimming with incredible new technologies and reconstituting once lost ecosystems. However, such times are no longer. The nameless Lord of Chaos has risen from his slumber, and has crawled from the pit to the Overworld. In a horrific display of gruesome power, the Lord of Chaos smote God from the heavens, and eradicated all good from the earth. crops were scorched, cities were demolished, plague ran rampant, and joy eradicated. The Earth was no more, and had been replaced by The Blackened. Not even death could free one from this horrific prison, as upon passing, the Lord of Chaos simply resurrects you only to suffer for longer. The only hope of salvation, as instructed by the Lord of Chaos, is bloodshed. relentless battle between forever warring factions, flesh destroying flesh for the entertainment of this dark deity. Those fallen in battle are resurrected to fight once more, in an endless cycle of service. Should one emerge victorious in battle, they are to be rewarded by the Lord of Chaos; perhaps with food, medicine, water, whatever is most needed by the victorious faction. Hand to hand combat proved to be too slow, too exhausting and far too resource heavy, and so the factions developed mobile machines of war; large hovercraft-type ships referred to as "Chaos engines". These engines were made for one purpose only- to slaughter. Humankind now fights an endless battle of flesh, machine and blood, and the Lord of Chaos reaps all of the benefits.
