Wild Magic Table Changes

This document outlines a set of changes to Wild Magic Sorcery that will make it easier for DMs to include and make it less disruptive to the game. It involves reducing the Fireball size, so that a low-level group is much less likely to be wiped out by it. The other three changes involve removing the Summoning effects, which can slow a fight down dramatically. Those effects are all neutral, so they have been replaced with other relatively neutral effects.

Wild Surge Changes

You cast fireball as a 3rd-level spell centered on yourself becomes:
You cast fireball as a 3rd-level spell centered on yourself with a 5 foot radius.     A modron chosen and controlled by the DM appears in an unoccupied space within 5 feet of you, then disappears 1 minute later becomes:
You are paralyzed until the beginning of your next turn and gain immunity to Piercing, Bludgeoning and Slashing until that time.   1d6 flumphs controlled by the DM appear in unoccupied spaces within 60 feet of you and are frightened of you. They vanish after 1 minute becomes:
You are blind for one minute but gain Blindsight 30ft. for the same duration.   A unicorn controlled by the DM appears in a space within 5 feet of you, then disappears 1 minute later becomes:
You gain Telepathy 60ft. for 1 minute.   Wild Surge Rolls   We will implement a suggested system for when a player should roll for a Wild Surge (which involves rolling a 1 on a d20 roll, at which point a Wild Surge occurs. A DM is free to use whatever system they like, but it is encouraged to use the surges sometimes, as it is a core part of the class.   The chance for a 1d20 roll is 50%+5% per level of the spell. So a first level spell has a 55% chance to trigger a 1d20 roll, upon which there is a 5% chance of a surge (a 2.75% chance to wild surge). A 9th level spell has a 95% chance to trigger the d20 roll (a 4.5% chance to wild surge).

Player Setup

With two macros, a character can easily set up their sheet so that wild surges are determined quickly and easily.   The following Google Document contains both macros, that you can copy/paste.
