Translation Chip

Use

Allows user to hear and understand any language, providing the word has a logical counterpart. In the event that the word doesn't have a logical counterpart, the nicer chips will substitute the nearest hearable sounds while a cheaper or broken chip will short out.

Untranslatable Words

Most curse words translate fairly well, but "Zuut" which is something between "Fuck" and "Damn" doesn't translate (it's neither also a term for sex nor is it a request for something to be sent to hell) and "Trok" which is between "shit" and "hell" doesn't translate.

Resetting

Chips occasionally need to be reset, but this requires actually pressing a little button on the chip which is implanted on the auditory cortex. Cheaper brands can be knocked out with a blow to the head or loss of oxygen, the more expensive brands can be circumvented with a magnet but are resistant to other kinds of damage.

Installation

Laparoscopic, minimally invasive.
