Podgraca
Purpose / Function
As a meeting place and where civil matters and debates are conducted. Votes take place for elections and candidates must announce their candidacy for jobs in the square.
Markets and merchants assemble in the square when merchants pass through town to sell and trade, on which much of the citys wealth is generated from the taxes they pay.
Architecture
Semicircular paved area. In the centre, in front of the Municinae, is a stone pulpit-like structure with two slightly curved solid blocks of stone. The former being used for the current speaker and the later would be used for the rest of the assembly. Five rows of solid stone blocks lying parallel to each other acting as the seats of the public watching and voting on the proposed laws.
Lined on the flat edge by civil buildings, the Paraea (Guild Hall) and the Municinae (Town Hall). They have very majestic fronts from a small town. Several pillars adorn the front of each building, grand steps leading up the door to each.
The circular side is lined with trees, which have to be regularly watered. Around them is then is a thin path beaten into the ground, which services some of the richer residents' villas.
