The Anachroverse

1942 saw the advent of atomic-powered technology, and scientists soon became eager to see how it could be used to improve the human body. The first nuclear-powered electricity was generated in 1951, and from there, scientists the world 'round leapt at the opportunity to put it into practice. By 1955, it was all but common to see people on the street with mechanical augmentations added to their bodies.   There were, of course, those who objected to this adulteration of the human body. There were others who sought to control the market, so that they alone could reap the benefits of this new wave of technology. Competition was steep and moral outrage high during the early days of the Atomic Era.   The Anachroverse follows the stories of various individuals living in this atompunk version of the mid-1900s, mostly centering around that vast stretch of asphalt known as Route 66.
