Nota Fakename

Nota Fakename

Feral Catgirl who has sworn to Kill God

Physical Description

General Physical Condition

Nota is a 5’8” humanoid feline with strong legs, noticeable curves, and short, schwoopy hair. Her figure is often obscured by oversized traveling cloaks, save her tail which moves about with a mind of its own, often enough.

Body Features

Nota, akin to the Old Man before her, is red from head to toe. Her “hands” are soft and padded, with short claws that retract and extend on command, her ears rotate almost 180 degrees, and four short horns protrude from the crown of her skull, two before each ear. Buried underneath her fur, Nota’s body is toned from constant traveling on foot, and she boasts wide curves and a large bust with four much smaller vestigial nipples.

Facial Features

Nota’s features are feline— a short snout with a small wet nose, slits in the eyes that expand and contract, a set of short, thin whiskers, and fur that tapers off from the cheeks in defined “tufts”. She boasts a pair of fairly large ears, and her hair is short and somewhat wild. Her eyes are big, mostly green, and can “glow” in the dark. She has an oversized fang which hangs over her mouth at times.

Identifying Characteristics

Between her feline features, exclusively red coat, and unique “crown” which she inherited from Ky, Nota stands out from her peers fairly easily. Aside from such, she also wears a unique pendant that seems to have been cast from iron, and alternates between oversized traveling clothes when out and about and skimpier, more revealing outfits in her downtime.

Physical quirks

Aside from the horns, Nota’s body is unique in that it seems to have a very extreme reaction to physical duress. When struck by objects moving at high velocity, her fur seems to immediately turn black and harden, storing the kinetic energy within the fibers before releasing the force in a small puff of green flame. This reaction seems to be involuntary, and she’s activated it fairly absentmindedly in the past, but it’s not destructive enough to have led to any acts of unintentional arson.

Special abilities

Nota is a stellar markswoman with a keen eye and a steady hand. Even when working with other weapons, she rarely misses her mark, and her hand-eye coordination is on par with some of the best gunslingers around. In addition to this skill, Nota’s body possess some unique abilities, including regeneration, special fur that seems to act as a built-in armor, and the power to shapeshift into a number of different physical forms— the most famous of which so far has been adopting the traits of a light sprite, setting herself on fire, and then exploding. She was fine. Her assailant was not.

Apparel & Accessories

Nota’s fashion sense is varied and a bit experimental— having been removed from her place of “birth”, she’s often interested in learning about what clothes and trinkets are trendy in her travels. While not terribly big on a large number of gaudy accessories, Nota does like jewelry, notably silver and gold, but also wears an iron pendant as a keepsake from her previous life. She’s historically chosen function over form for most of her travels, but no longer needing to conceal her identity, she’s become open to wearing more revealing outfits that bare her assets with a greater frequency. She has no piercings— yet.

Specialized Equipment

Nota sports her signature weapon— a unique, bolt-action jezail that fires .50 rounds and has served her as a walking cane, a short staff, and a sniper rifle. The gun’s barrel shines silver and black, with aquamarine gilding. In the past, the weapon was consecrated with the Gardener’s blessing, but with recent developments, it’s now just a standard firearm with a unique design. However, it stands to reason that it is still capable of channeling large quantities of magical energy, just as it did when consecrated against the Gardener’s narrow-minded idea of “tyranny.”

Personal history

Hailing from an era before Ky’s time, Nota was “born” before the rise of the Aljon Khanate, living instead under the (markedly similar) rule of the Six High Houses of Kestral. Initially adopted at a young age by a wealthy family with ties to the Houses, Nota spent her early childhood in what she’d later come to consider luxury, growing up with amenities such as regular running water, decent food, and new clothes made from fine fabrics. This changed not terribly long after her 9th birthday, where Nota got into a suffered a minor injury and her unique abilities as the Gardener’s Chosen were revealed. Almost immediately disowned and with the knights of the High Houses now hunting her, Nota began a young life as a child vagabond, roaming the streets and alleys of Kestral’s high life before being taken in by an older runaway.
For the next several years, Nota would travel around with her “big sister” Ya’net, hopping from area to area scamming, slumming, and brawling their way to survival, until one day Nota’s “destiny” caught up. Once again discovered by the knights of the High Houses, Ya’net was captured, with the younger sibling being forced to escape without her only family. Thus began the first act of the Six High Houses new policy— all those who were to aid the Gardner’s Chosen would face public execution. The corpses would often be left exactly where they were killed.
Nota would go on to live the remainder of her life in a manner unlike that which her sister had taught her— scamming, scrapping, stealing, and occasionally getting into the bedrooms of her targets. With the never ending chase of the knights, very few who came to meet Nota lived much longer afterwards. Traveling without any form of magical guidance, she never came into her own abilities as the Chosen, and was capable of only ever offering limited resistance against her pursuers at best. Eventually, she’d be ensnared by the will of the paracausal entity Zurvan, and spend an unknown amount of time in the wastes of Daevas, living out a life not entirely different from the one she’d lived before. Eventually, she was approached by a Capellan captain named Kerik with a plot to strike down Zurvan and escape Daevas, which she spent the next several months working towards.   And then, one day, an old man showed up and shapeshifted into her future self. The rest, as they say, is history.

Education

Nota has next to nothing in the way of a formal education, but does know basic letters and arithmetic. Most of her knowledge and expertise lies within the schools of Seduction, Theft, and Illicit and Somewhat-to-Incredibly-Dangerous activities. She is somewhat proud of this fact.

Employment

Nota’s first real “job”, in any sense of the word, was more or less her assisting Captain Kerik with his plot to recreate the events that led to Zurvan’s initial downfall at the hands of the Usurper and the Magician’s Guild. Her recent employment as a Captain— and immediate demotion to First Officer— is her first real title, and the first time she’s ever been cast in a position of authority besides. How she handles this, is… a work in progress.

Accomplishments & Achievements

Nota would not consider herself terribly accomplished in almost anything, but she does have the distinct honor of being a key member of the group which overthrew Zurvan and prevented the destruction of Felis 8673 at the hands of the Armada. Not many people can say they managed to cheat death, travel through time, and avert the oncoming apocalypse.

Failures & Embarrassments

Despite her later success in averting the calamity which befell Felis and Daevas, Nota considers her initial failure to subjugate Zurvan before the sudden calamity to be one of her greatest mistakes, in addition to dying on her home world shortly after.

Mental Trauma

Nota has spent the better part of her life being hunted by dangerous people she has no ability to fight for having a power she did not ask for, hyper-aware of the fact that almost everyone she would ever come to meet would be killed in pursuit of her. She’s incredibly unsuited for “downtime”, and seems totally out of her element when her situation falls short of “imminently apocalyptic or life-ending”. She has very literally died— in a spectacularly slow and gruesome execution that she does not like to recall or describe, only telling her past self that it was public and before the Six High Houses themselves. In addition to these things, she also now bears the weight of having become the final of the Gardener’s Chosen, no longer bound to the god and burdened by the memories of her immediate predecessor, and the reality of her existence as a god’s plaything. She is plagued by anxiety and depression, but is managing to function regardless of both these things.

Intellectual Characteristics

Where Nota’s book smarts fall short, she has a knack for navigating people and social situations as they’re called for. She often “studies” people, trying to figure out their needs and wants, what makes them tick, and can play mediator between parties when necessary.

Morality & Philosophy

Nota does not consider herself to be a terribly good person, but also does not consider herself to be “evil” in any manner either. To hear her tell it, just about everything she has ever done has been in service to herself, whether as a means of survival or her own selfish wants. Whether that’s good or bad isn’t her main concern, but she has recently shown more of a moral bent towards wanting to genuinely help others. She does innately hold contempt for those who abuse high positions of power, and will acknowledge genuinely monstrous behavior as she sees it, but her main priority is almost always to protect herself— and potentially, those she cares about.

Taboos

None known thus far.

Personality Characteristics

Motivation

Nota is driven both by a desire to see the world unchained from her previous status as the Gardener’s Chosen, as well as to one day exact revenge upon her creator for her traumatic life and the horrors lived out by both the people of Kestral and all the previous Chosen— herself and Ky in particular.

Virtues & Personality perks

Nota is fairly patient, understanding, adaptive, and quick-witted. She’s willing to always defer to those who she thinks know more than her, and always attempts to gather as much knowledge and assistance about a matter as possible before embarking on a path.

Vices & Personality flaws

Nota has a wit sharper than a razor and a bad habit of not keeping it sheathed. Her lifetime of crime, violence, and debauchery also sways her to make more… immoral decisions than some feel she should.

Personality Quirks

Nota has a quirk of zoning out and asking somewhat brusque questions and making long-winded comments about how she enjoys perceiving people. This is rarely meant to be cutting or offensive, in fact she often means it as a compliment.

Speech

Alternates between flirty, cutting, and rough but relaxed as the situation calls for. Her voice has a habit of increasing in pitch as she becomes more flustered, and deeper as she becomes more upset.
