The Alriya Chronicles

Inspired by Storypath's Anima setting, welcome to a near future world where the differences between what is physical and what is digital are becoming minimalized.    The Arcadia Haven is an corporate city-state on a manmade city outside in the waters off the Pacific North West, outside the jurisdiction of the United States. A corporate haven, it is primarily operated by Storm Surge Industries, a joint venture subsidiary of two the big five corporations.   The reason for Arcadia's formation is the brain child of Dr. Huda Siddiqui, who taking advantage of enhancements in bionic limbs and neural collections, created Glass, a paradigm enhancement in neural interfaces. Previous neural links came with limitations, whether a loss in fidelity and response times due to using an external interface, or an implanted minicomp, which only provided limited sensory data.   Glass changed all that. Glass allows for direct immersion in the virtual space as well as enhancing interactions with augmented reality in the physical world. However, due to political pushback and resistance, especial in light of various issues that arose with previous versions, Dr. Siddiqui took his research offshore. Some say there were additional political negotiations and discussions with the major world powers, but on the face of it, the Arcadia is independent of government intervention.
