Session 29: I Wanna Take a Pic...

General Summary

The party set on escaping from the Treasure Trove, releasing several prisoners as they did so. Reaching the next tier of the prison, they found the remnants of an onslaught of guards, mauled by Teddy, a young tabaxi lying unconscious beneath the one surviving prison guard. Lestie disposed of the guard and Luda revived the party’s new ally. The party ran up the stairs to the next level, but before the warden could question them, the Treasure Trove shifted, layers replaced by layers. After a good bludgeoning by the stone walls, the party found themselves in front of the office of Dr. Marta Gordov, head scientist of the Oculus Trust. Teddy scanned the room for traps, and not finding any, Luda entered and looted the place, finding an empty chocolate box, several blueprints, a torn-up letter, and a beetle playing dead. The beetle introduced himself as Grandpa.   Teddy suddenly heard the doctor approaching, and Grandpa led them into a cavity behind the fireplace. From your hiding place, you watched the doctor lay Sinara on the hearth and weep over her ex-lover’s body. For the first time, she removed her plague doctor mask, revealing a face horrible scarred by chemical burns. You fled the scene, escaping the doctor and the Treasure Trove, and climbing the ladder to the Bailey, where you were formally introduced to Hester.   But the coast was hardly clear, as Ivan Volkov approached, asking what the party was up to. Using her newly learnt persuasive abilities, and copping the brunt of Ivan’s predatory behaviour, Luda convinced him to give them safe passage to the Tawny Treads, as well as a letter from Carlo Borscht, inviting Olechka to a dinner on Giant’s Hill, with several important persons.   In the Tawny Treads, you spoke to Lev who agreed to let you stay there for the interim. He told you he and K-Jack would be skipping town before Sovereign’s Day. He sees only devastation in the future. You set up camp in the Tawny Treads, and during your short rest, Lestie carved a werewolf and a squirrel in memory of her friends, while Luda burnt letters to Marcus and Olechka, as well as a picture of the former’s wife and a cabbage soup recipe. You all formulated a plan to send Psyche to the dinner disguised as a young Olechka, who would suck Carlo’s soul as a last hurrah in Olechka’s memory. Psyche would rather regain her powers than die. Varis entered a near-hypnotic trance and performed surgery on Psyche’s soul to restore her transformative powers. Varis then called Matthias to let him know of Olechka’s passing. Matthias was quick to blame the party, urging them to rethink involving innocents in the havoc they wreak.
