Norn
Many people think that Norn must be a coarse language given the harsh climate of Nornraka and the fact that a large section of it's population are burly sailors.
However, Norn is without a doubt the most musical language on the Disc. The words flow together easily making it hard for non-Norn speakers to recognise where one word ends and the next begins. The musicality is actually a part of the language's history. With ship crews singing out in the mist to identify on another and navigate the ever changing currents of the Nornrakan waters. This practice wasn't all that widespread but the development of the "Singing whale" and "Dancing seahorse" which allowed long distance communication through the water quickly made spread the custom ubiquitous in Nornrakan Culture.
The written language is pictographic rather than the strictly phonetic alphabet of Araxian. Each character can be rotated one of 4 ways which changes it's meaning and pronunciation. This means that it is possible to make symmetrical sentences or sentences that have a totally different meaning if read backwards or upside down. As complex as this may sound the language relies on the use of short phrases that combine to paint a larger picture of meaning.
