Kurothi

Life in Kuroth is not for the faint of heart. Likewise, Speaking Kurothi is not for the faint of throat. For the uninitiated, plenty of tea and honey is recommended until you get used to it's hard syllables. The language is in many ways a reflection of the people who speak it. Direct, blunt, and clearly audible in a storm. As physically painful it may be for a first time speaker of Kurothi. There is undeniably something stirring about the language. The strong rhythm, the powerful consonants, the sharp lines of the script... Somehow it all comes together to form something singularly stimulating. When put to music, you can't help tapping your foot to the beat. In public speech, you can't help cheering at the end of a sentence. It enflames passions somehow, as though mortal hearts are compelled to beat to the rhythm of Kurothi.   A small group of thaumo-linguists at Araxis attempted to study the phenomenon by translating arcane incantations into Kurothi. Of the 10 students, 3 got into a fight with each other which left 2 of them in the hospital and 1 frothing at the mouth for a week. The other 7 were discovered nearly dead from exhaustion after a thirty-one-hour orgy. Future study of this topic has been officially banned by the masters of the academy. The discipline committee has had to reprimand students for attempting it on no less than 68 separate occasions.
