Folketen is the Dwarven term for the Dwarves, and it refers to the broader Dwarven culture.

Other names

Folketen are very reticent to give their true name to others. Instead, they often provide a name that they have earned due to action on their part. As an example, Splintershield may be given to someone who had their shield broken in a great battle.

Culture

Major language groups and dialects

Most Folketen speak Dwarven and Terran, and merchants and other Folketen that deal with the outside world usually speak Common as well.

Gender Ideals

Upon first glance, outsiders often cannot tell immediately the gender of a Folketen. Males and females are found equal as often in nearly all professions, and large beards are prized among both biological genders.
