Ntefi

The Ntefi were an aquatic mammalian species, one of the Great Races from their emergence in the Age of Lothracha until their total annihilation by Lothracha along with Zshatlalote their creator. Since their demise, their souls, tied to Zshatlalote, have been inprisoned Under Deep, and subject to the tortures of that realm. A number of Ntefi souls have escaped from the Waters, and torment the world at large as "demons". The Ntefi, even in death, are a wicked and evil race, tainted by their association with Zshatlalote. They are believed to influence all other living things towards chaos, destruction, death, and misery. Some traditions (like the Acacian religions) believe the Ntefi seek to corrupt all life and drag it down Under Deep after death.
Depictions of the Ntefi as living creatures date back to the Age of Lothracha, and depict them as having torpedo-shaped bodies with generally non-flexible necks, limbs modified into flippers, a tail fin, and bulbous heads. As spirits they are depicted as more abstract and horrible variants of their living form, and spending too much time on the seas is said to draw Ntefi to one.
The Nftefi were created by Zshatalote during the Age of Lothracha, when he, jealous of Lothracha's rule over the land, drove a number of mammals into the sea, and the ones who adapted and survived he imbued with his own Nomos, becoming the Ntefi. Zshatlalote attempted to wage war against Lothracha using the Ntefi, but the semi-aquatic Saura easily destroyed them. Zshatlalote himself was banished Under Deep by Lothracha, taking the souls of the Ntefi with him.
