Siren Sap

Siren sap is excreted from the glands of Deepwater Sirentraps. It stays as a viscous liquid until exposed to sudden precise force, in which it rapidly hardens. Just like with its other variants this sap is buoyant, so it is only produced during breeding season when the plant ascends to the caverns of the Muscovite Canyons. Naturally, the sap is only excreted when the Sirentraps have caught prey, but semi-domesticated plants will give the sap in exchange for food.   Siren sap has many uses due to its unique properties, but it can only be collected during Frostwalk when Deepwaters ascend to the sub-surface. Though, there are still period where the plants ascend to one of the many undiscovered caves within the caverns.

Properties

Material Characteristics

Siren sap is a red, viscous liquid that shares a striking resemblance to honey.

Physical & Chemical Properties

Siren sap has a property that can permanently encase a creature or object when dried. This has nothing to do with magic like many would think, but instead with a strange compound that siphons out bacteria and magic. Unhardened sap is buoyant.

History & Usage

History

This material was originally only used for historical and artistic purposes, as a way to preserve sculptures and texts. However after a report on the natural uses of the material was brought to light, the doctors have lobbied for it to be used practically.

Discovery

Siren sap was first discovered by a group of curious adventurers that had gone through a tour in the Muscovite Caverns. However the sap was not officially discovered until after their encapsulated corpses were found by the Sirentrap's nest several weeks later. It was not used until 1759, when famed experimental artist Monique Rucardi used them in her most famous work, 'Dandelion Sunset', the first ever Scene sculpture.

Industrial Use

Artistic The color and properties of Siren Sap has created an art form known as Scene Sculpting, in which a 'scene' such as a picnic or swim is encased in the sap. Which when chiseled makes it look as if there is a sky or ocean the sculptures are in. This is the most popular use of the sap, however some use it simply to preserve their works.
Historical Uses Many scholars, nobles, and governments have used Siren sap to preserve important documents so that they are not lost. These are usually then given up to a scholars' university or group, a protected government facility, or are embedded in the walls of palaces.
Medicinal UsesThe sap is used for healing poisoned wounds, and casing grievous wounds and severed limbs. Due to the fact that siren sap does not siphon blood, it is often poured and molded directly onto the site or route of poison to allow for it to extracted safely. In cases of severed limbs, gauze and bandages are applied to allow for the skin to regrow during the process.
