Phyiera

Laden with magic so potent that it rivals even the gods, the Phyiera is a creature beyond life and death. These majestic titans exist only to regulate the magic flowing through their home realm Teruna. As masters of their respective magic, even the most skilled of magicians can only hope to amount to a fraction of these creature's power.   The Phyiera are sentient, as many past encounters have confirmed, but have little care for the affairs of other species. They spend every waking moment maintaining the delicate balance of magic that governs Teruna, and are a species removed from Godhood. As they live, they hone themselves and the vast ecosystems that lie atop their backs, within which flora and fauna of myth and legend that can only survive in their magic-rich environment. The antlers of which they shed whenever they awaken foster life of the most unimaginable potential, and provide for the earth in their absence. As they die, they pass their generational knowledge onto their descendant, feeding them profound magic for them to foster in the next life.   As a species the Phyiera are the sole, true protectors of Teruna, and the ones in which reincarnation was born.

Basic Information

Anatomy

This species is a four legged ungulate, with an anatomy most similar to the common moose. The mighty antlers atop their heads are present in both males and females, but those of a female's shed soon than the ones of a male's. Spiny appendages trial down their backs, and are said to provide the massive beasts with energy.   Unlike any other species on Teruna, every organ within the Phyiera double as mana reserves, giving them an immense reservoir of magic. This attracts magic of this creature's natural temper over the course of its century long slumbers, creating unique biomes atop its back. At the start of this species' wake cycle the mana accumulated during their slumber is funneled into their antlers. If this mana fills or exceeds the mana limit of these appendages, the antlers are shed and left to biodegrade into the soil.

Genetics and Reproduction

The Phyiera is a the rarest non-endangered species to live on Teruna. There are only eleven that exist, and one for each magical element. It is unknown how this creature reproduces, or if it does at all, as scientists and scholars alike have contemplated whether or not the Phyiera even has a role in the matter. The only time the Phyiera reproduces is when one of their own has died, and their foals are only 'born' during their parent's sleep cycle, whether or not the parent is a female or not. These foals are independent the moment the emerge from their slumber, and they swiftly strike out on their own after. Over the course their first day cycle, the foal will develop and improve themself as they come to master the element passed down from their predecessor.

Biological Cycle

The Phyiera only stay awake for the duration of the terrestrial commune, the period where the planets Diad and Lelym are closest, and when the low gravity on Teruna allows for them to move comfortably. These creatures are abide by the magic faults all over the planet, and aide in the redistribution of magic as they move. The Phyiera only sleep in area oversaturated in their magical affinity, absorbing the excess mana as they slumber.
