Hanim Succession War
Rashid's sons have gone to war over who will succeed him as Sultan, a lot of blood is going to be spilt over who rules...The Hanim Succession War was fought between 1231 and 1238. It was caused by a disagreement over who should rule Marim after the death of Sultan Rashid Hanim.
The Conflict
Prelude
In 1231, Sultan Rashid Hanim was poisoned during the night. The assassin was caught trying to escape the palace, but withstood all interrogation and was executed the following day. The Sultan was dead, and the throne had to be passed on. Prince Humayd was expected by everyone to take the throne and become the Sultan. However, the Sultan's other son (Prince Ahmed) disagreed with his brother taking the throne. Prince Ahmed believed that Humayd was far too aggressive to lead Marim, and did not think things through before acting. Many nobles began to side with Ahmed, and many sided with Humayd. However, the laws of sucession state that it must be the eldest son that succeeds - this meant that Humayd would have to die if Ahmed were to take the throne. And so, the disagreement between the brothers erupted into a civil war.
