The Black Warrior's Plot
Structure
Exposition
We meet Lyla and Adrianna at their cottage and Adrianna begins her mission to infilitrate Morelest and assinate Dante before he can raise the army of corpses again.
Adrianna infilitrates Morelest through Prince Tristans ball and pretends to court him in order to tail Dante and try and figure out how he's learnt of the army of corpses. Adrianna meets Tristan and Thomas here
Adrianna spys on Dante and figures out her assassination plan
Conflict
Adrianna attacks Dante while he's sleeping and questions him before slitting his throat.
As Adrianna is escaping she comes across Tristan who chases her down and mannages to capture her because she's injured herself
Tristan discovers that Adrianna is the Black Warrior and she uses his surprise to escape.
Rising Action
Adrianna escapes and is headed towards the cottage when Tristan and Thomas catch up to her and she finds the cottage burned down and Lyla missing kidnapped by the Saeva
Tristan reveals that Dante is still alive and they agree to track the Saeva to rescue Lyla and stop Dante
They travel to the ancient castle and find Dante
Climax
Dante reveals everything about him and Crow and that he is actually Leon the orignal Morelest sorcerer and that Crow was the one who raised the original army.
Dante takes Lyla's heart and uses Adriannas blood to open the tomb that the corpses are in
Dante raises the corpses and Tristan and Thomas and Adrianna escape on the Saeva and fly to the nearest city which is the Undead port. They warn the citizens and get on a ship.
Adrianna recruits Pirate Lorence and they sail down the river to Crows city.
When they get there they find that the army is already beat them there and Adrianna joins her father in the battle as Leon sacks the city and kils Crow. Crow reveals to her the truth and gives her the mothers heart
Adrianna Thomas and Tristan flee Vesk and head into the Ultar Mountains towards Witchs peak.
Resolution
The trio return to Vesk and they join the Veskan military in a batte on the Veskan coast. Tristan leaves to rally Morlest troops and Adrianna takes control of the Veskan military and the pirates
Tristan arrives with Morelest troops that do very little to help
Lorence sacrafices himself to stop Leon from continuing to disrupt their ships
Adrianna goes out onto the field and decides that the only way to end it is to kill Leon
As she's fighting and making her way towards Leon the Mother Sorceress appears and takes control of the battle but she tells Adrianna that she can only destroy them if she kills Leon
Adrianna faces off against Leon and kills him and the Mother destroys the corpses once and for all and returns to the witch's peak
Several weeks later Adrianna is invited to the peak for a ceremony to return the hearts of the Mother's second and Lyla as well as to end Lyla's exile and welcome her back to the coven.

Goals
Adrianna wants to prevent the army of corpses from being raised in the beginning because of her own fears and ptsd but when they are her goal shifts and she just wants to save her people and save Lyla.
Stakes
The stakes is the collapse of Vesk and it desruction of its people and Adrianna losing Lyla.
Moral Quandaries
Adrianna doesn't know if she should use the heart to stand a chance against the corpses or return it and beg help of the sorceresses.
Cruel Tricks
Lyla's kidnapping, Dante remaining alive, the betrayal of the truth about her father, the sorceresses refusal to help, Leon taking Lyla's heart.
Relations
Protagonists
Adrianna is the main protaganist but Tristan is also a large protaganist with many chapters from his point of view.
Allies
Thomas is the main support as he acompanies Adrianna and Tristan throughout the story. Lyla is also an additional support and is incredibly important to Adrianna and spurs on many of her actions. Lorence is also an important characters and provides Adrianna with his navy but his death also challenges the ideas of good and bad and creates mourning from the war.
Neutrals/Bystanders
The sorceresses are pretty much the only neutrals.
Competitors
Crow is sort competitor as he is revelaed to be fairly evil by the end of the book despite his good appearance. Leon's unamed henchman is also a competitor
Adversaries
Leon is the main enemy of the novel and is the antagonist of Adrianna and Tristan despite being his father. He's also the antagonist of Thomas because of the abuse he suffered at his father's hands.
