The Faetouched

Those who look for power amongst Faekind will often find it. The Faetouched are men and women who have gained magical ability from the Faekind, normally from making pacts with them. Their bodies are altered, to become more like the creatures with whom a deal was made. The exact symptoms vary, as there are more than one species of Faekind however, no matter what form one contracts there are some commonalities. The victim's change will be gradual, and even curable at first. All of the Faetouched gain the magical abilities of the Faekind. They typically will not be as adept at their magical ability as those who are born Fae, but this is still one of the few ways for Humankind to gain magical capability. The Faetouched will commonly advance in stages, at different rates depending on the victim and their circumstances.

Stage 0:

This is the stage in which one is when first infected. The victim will often fall into a deep sleep. The victims blood will slowly be replaced with ichor, the blood of the Faekind. While it is not precisely known if this process is the same for all Faetouched, current knowledge shows that part of this process is the expelling of blood through the mouth, nose, and eyes. This blood is then replaced as the heart begins pumping ichor through the body. The heart also begins to become discolored during this process, turning into a pale green or sickly yellow. This stage is one of the few in which the victim can be cured via the intervention of a Saint.

Stage 1:

At this stage, the victim wakes up. They will feel lingering pain from the previous stage, and normally notice that they have an irregular heartbeat. They will discover their newly acquired magical abilities soon after. While little is known of their magical abilities, Faetouched seem to grow more powerful the more like the Faekind they become. This means that a Faetouched in this stage is more likely to be killed if they attempt to fight. This does not mean they are weak, however, and one must always look out for their tricks if a Saint is not also present. Sadly, they will not yet be weak to Pure Iron like the Faekind. This will come later. This has an interesting effect on those who are attempting to kill a Faetouched. This stage grants some of the power of the Faekind yet without their weaknesses. DueThis stage also grants the Faetouched colored eyes, the color spreading through the whole eye except for the pupil. These colors vary but can include shades of red, yellow, green, black, and brown. This coloration will glow, making the Faetouched easy to locate in the dark. This is the last stage in which a Faetouched can be healed via the intervention of a Saint.

Stage 2:

Within this stage, the victim loses their connection to humanity. Their skin becomes pallid, and their magical capabilities grow mildly. The Faetouched will begin to lose their humanity in this stage.
