Once he was the chief librarian of Skydown's Baronial Archive. When the Archive went missing, under mysterious circumstances, he was held liable and scourged to within an inch of his life. Bloodied and nearly broken, he fled to Tamalir and then to Greyhaven.
In Greyhaven he used his good name and reputation to get a position within the University Archives. Then the Archives were robbed, fleeced of every single book. And the books stolen from the library of Skydown magically reappeared in its place! He fled ahead of the anticipated and inevitable order for his execution south to Tamalir and enrolled in the Adventurer's Guild.
When the Baron from Trast sent orders calling for adventurers, he volunteered. But seniority came first and all that. When the second order came, begging for further assistance, his second escape came.
