Player Roles

In my campaigns, I like to assign a few meta roles to my players. These roles are out of character, and are solely to aid with the organization and fluidity of our gameplay. Any player actively performing one of these roles immediately gains a point of inspiration at the start of each session as a token of my appreciation for their extra work and effort:
The Treasurer: Responsible for tracking party resources. This primarily includes gold, but could also be rations, other forms of currency, healing potions, or any resource which is not in the possession of a particular player character. Resources like healing potions will often arbitrarily get taken by "the party", and this is where the treasurer comes into play to make sure that every player does not add a healing potion to their inventory one only 1 healing potion is found. Players are responsible for their managing their own resources, but may choose to contribute to the party resources for larger purchases and strategic distribution of resources. When a character finds a resource, they have complete agency in their actions and decisions regarding that resource. It is important to note that just because the treasurer is responsible for the management of party resources, they do not own them. Any usage of party resources requires agreement from all characters. At the end of each session, a world anvil document should be updated with the current party resources. As a DM, I do not track your gold or resources, and will trust the players and treasurer.
The Chronicler: Responsible for summarising and chronicling the major events of each session in a World Anvil timeline (this does not need to be detailed, but it should outline the major plot points and narrative progression of the campaign).
The Diplomat: Responsible for tracking important political relationships, party reputation with different factions, and updating a world anvil document accordingly.
