The Existence and Effects of Ether (Overview and Introduction)

Ether, is an ever present "existance" that seems to be verpresent. It never remains stagnant, always trying to influence the world to stabilize itself, but unlike say kinetic energy where how it may influence is limited, ether seems to lack limitations, with influences ranging from concentrating itself into crystalline form, to manifesting itself as objects or creatures, to tampering with the other laws of known physics. Its theorized that sentience is merely another fashion ether is acting, some take it further and think everything is simply another fashion that ether is acting. Though it remained mostly invisible to people a long time ago, an event caused it to become significantly more pronounced in the world, where whatever limitations that made its existence elusive to study, ceased entirely. In the following century, more events began to take place.

Effects to the environment

New fauna and flora variations began appearing in nature, eventually leading to unique habitats and new biomes. Creatures and plants that are considered natural to the modern day were fantastical to scientists of the past. Though evolution requires millions of years naturally, extreme mutations began appearing in nature that dominated the gene pools, adaptations began to quicken leading to first variations of animals to where they were classified as different species entirely. Though intelligent species seemed a bit more resistant to this as they somehow remained mostly unchanged in any drastic way.

The Etherious Cycle

Despite ether being ever-present naturally, more ether seems to be constantly generated, as living beings seem to perpetually emit it. Inversely, many living things can absorb ether from the natural world should a person need to replenish their supply for some reason, as there are many ways to lose one's ether. Thus, cycling of ether is a constant process while new ether is slowly being introduced.

The Terrestrial Unavailing

New landmasses were being discovered and all evidence point to the fact that they have always existed and the world was completely oblivious to them, it sounds absolutely impossible for it to be true especially with their technology allowing for efficient travel, but this unveiling was how the Wyverians were introduced to the three other intelligent species, and since they had their own history and culture, its extremely unlikely that they, their land, unique creatures, environments and nature simply popped into existence. It also revealed that some fairy tales and fantastical stories of enchanting lands and mythical beasts were not as impossible as some thought as those lost adventurers may not have been entirely delusional.

Etherious Talents

The aspect of ether being unique to each living and sapient individual is not shown better than a certain peculiarity of the "Etherious". Since one's ether is a part of them, some arguing it is them, they can learn to utilize it. First people slowly began becoming aware of its existence and location, able to sense it, next control had manifested as a protection technique where it can be used to defend oneself, heal wounds and enhance the body. But the third manifestation was by far the most impactful, the manifestation of unique abilities within the populous.

Man Made Monsters

The major caveat of ether and the reason why combat is an important subject in education is the existence of the Id. When stagnant ether attaches itself to or becomes influenced by cognitions or concepts, it has the potential to manifest as beasts born from the mind, strong emotion, repressed thoughts, ideas, and the unconscious canals of the mind and give birth to an Id. Ids can manifest as phenomena or creatures with the only goal of growing itself with more ether and more thought. They can be extremely dangerous and malevolent as people are bundles of energy and thought ripe for harvest. As the complexities of psyche and ether grow, so will they and their hunger.
